Sprites

I'm not sure how up-to-date this page is but I used it a while ago for heaps of flipping and transparentising... User:UltimateSephiroth/Sprites --Spriteit 12:42, 10 February 2011 (UTC)

A little note

At the bottom the regular users list, shouldn't it read Mozilla Firefox instead of Microsoft Firefox? I'm using Firefox at the moment, and as far as I know it is not connected with Microsoft in any way.--Chalkwriter 16:29, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

Sorry about that... I keep thinking that... >< Thanks for the catch. ht14 17:18, 20 April 2011 (UTC)

png replacing

Under the category called Ongoing Tasks, the part where it says upload png replacements of anime jpgs and manga jpgs is not clear. Here's why, when I uploaded a png replacement of an anime jpg, I was notified saying that I wasn't supposed to re-upload them as pngs (despite getting my images from another source). The same went for the manga jpgs. Is there a way to reword it carefully? Pattyman 18:07, 24 June 2011 (UTC)

Gen IV Locations

Should we put uploading maps of Gen IV locations on the list? There are several locations in DPPt and HGSS that are in need of proper or updated maps (I believe there are at least 30). --Dannyboy601 13:05, 1 August 2011 (UTC)

"Upload TCG images properly (do not upload any Farfetch'd or Ho-Oh images due to non-alphanumeric characters)"

Er... don't we already have images with dashes and apostrophes? Or am I missing something here? -- Trainer Hunter -- 18:27, 9 December 2011 (UTC)

Marking animated Moves vs. still ones

After reading the FAQ, I thought I'd edit the move images for animation in the template but kept finding it had already been done. I did change the template a few that weren't animated, but it just occurred to me that that probably can't be used to locate images that need an animated replacement. Is there something else I should be marking those with instead? --GARY-DOS (talk) 07:18, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

The {{animated}} tag is used to mark images that need to be animated. G50 09:27, 29 December 2013 (UTC)

Crystal Sprites

There's a decent number of Crystal front sprites with bad coloring (though they have been marked as such). The easiest way to fix this is to convert them to APNG and then alter the pallet with TweakPNG, however I can't replace the existing bad GIF files this way. Converting them back to GIF gives sketchy results (see old versions of File:Spr_2c_199.gif), and seems counter-productive considering we're trying to phase out GIFs. When I go through and fix the other sprites with bad colors, is there any reason I should bother with making GIFs instead of just uploading the fixed APNGs? I also noticed the sprites from Japanese Crystal that differ from the localized versions were removed and redirected to the localized ones, but I can't find any reason why. Maybe it's me, but that seems like the sort of thing that would be notable. --GARY-DOS (talk) 22:12, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Nevermind the last part, I mistook the Crystal sprites as missing when the ones I was thinking of are from G/S. --GARY-DOS (talk) 22:26, 15 February 2014 (UTC)

Using APNG optimizer

Can someone add this in the current tasks of all users? APNG optimizer can reduce the file size of an image without reducing the quality. I recommend to write like this: Large .png files can be optimized using this tool Pokéfan95 (talk) 07:39, 14 April 2015 (UTC)

HeartGold and SoulSilver OD Sprites

I notice there are two types of uploads for OD sprites: File:001OD.png through File:493OD.png and File:Ani001OD.png through File:Ani493OD.png. I also noticed there is a missing sprite upload but a animated upload only for some (#450 National Pokédex for this example). Is there a reason for this? Are the static PNGs being phased out in favor of the animated counterparts and someone forgot to use the {{delete}} template for the static ones? I edited File:157OD.png with this in mind but quickly undid my edit because I thought it was a mistake on my end. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 21:45, 6 June 2015 (UTC)

We have both because back during HGSS, we tried to replace all of the menu sprites with the overworld sprites and so we needed moving ones and non-moving overworld sprites. --Abcboy (talk) 00:45, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
OK, so I guess there are just missing sprites then that need uploading? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) 00:21, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

New things on the to do list

We should include article stubs section stubs. That way non autoconfirmed users like me have more things to do. Princess Peach (talk) 18:50, 5 August 2016 (UTC)

This is the Archives, which is for images only. We don't have articles or stubs here. --SnorlaxMonster 04:26, 6 August 2016 (UTC)

Upload Pikachu Libre & Suicune half deck symbols

I just updated the TCG Rotation page to properly reflect the 2017 rotation but the set symbols for the Pikachu Libre & Suicune half decks don't seem to have ever been uploaded so I can't put a set symbol to go with the link. I would upload them myself but I just made this account and am not yet Autoconfirmed so I don't have the proper permissions yet, sorry.--MyNameIsMike37 (talk) 10:55, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

How can non-autoconfirmed users help?

Most of the things on the to-do list involve uploading stuff. Since I'm not autoconfirmed, I can't do those tasks. What else can I help with to work my way towards autoconfirmed status? Kidburla (talk) 09:17, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Categorizing images is always needed. That is listed in the "ongoing tasks" section, so it's somewhat buried in the list of things to do. I will update that accordingly. ht14 15:25, 27 October 2017 (UTC)
As an example, there are many toy images that are not fully categorized, nor are there useful summary information. ht14 15:26, 27 October 2017 (UTC)

Animated PNG support on Chrome

Google's Chrome browser supports animated PNG images (at least in Desktop view mode on Android devices; not sure if the same can be said of Mobile view or of the Windows version of Chrome). Consider adding Chrome to the list of browsers supporting APNG. ‑‑SilSinn (TIDs768426S123446UM💬 00:54, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
