Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Hexagon Theory!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Templates

Please use {{p}} when addressing Pokémon, just like on Bulbapedia. ht14 04:22, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Sprites

are you uploading the files you misnamed at their proper names? Because I've been putting the move tag on them. Should i put the delete tag on them?Dion24 07:52, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Heh, terribly sorry about that; a few missed commas here and there and the computer will do exactly what you told it to. The problem has since been fixed and I think the upload macro I've made should go smoothly and without any more hitches. Do feel free to delete them, yes. Hexagon Theory 07:54, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
I cant delete, but someone else will :DDion24 07:55, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Did u do the macro in auto-it or something similar? --+ Joeshie + (is Me!) 08:09, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Well, I'm mostly using user JavaScript to fill out the summary and automatically go to the next upload page. The only thing I'm having to use AutoHotKey (quite similar to AutoIt) for is the actual clicking of the upload button and selecting the file; JavaScript blocks this functionality as a security measure and rightly so: if it didn't, people could just set forms to automatically fill an upload field with a location that's likely to contain an important file on the user's computer and upload it to their own server. Why do you ask, if I may? Just a mild interest in automation, or are you looking to help me with the remaining ~300 Pokémon? ; ) Hexagon Theory 08:25, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
I would help, although I don't have the sprites :P. If you could tell me where/how you get them, I would be more than willing to help/ And it was also a mild interest. 03:42, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Heh, I've already finished uploading all of them, but thank you for your offer of assistance. «hexagonTHEORY» 04:09, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
You sure you uploaded them all? Anyways, there's also this category: Category:Current game sprites. These just need to be uploaded over with the BW version of the sprites. If I recall correctly, we finished doing all the non-shiny ones. So, I'm guessing all that's left are the shiny versions. Jellotalk 04:14, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
What makes you ask if I'm sure? To my knowledge, I got every single one that wasn't already uploaded; my method was as follows: I went to every single Pokémon's page with images turned off; if the box was blank, it meant the image had been uploaded. If it had a redlink, though, it meant that the sprite hadn't been updated. If, however, only some of the boxes had redlinks, I figured they had been uploaded, they just hadn't gone live yet; still, I manually checked every single one. I really wish the Archives server spoke directly to the Bulbapedia one so that we could be absolutely certain, but I am nonetheless fairly confident that they all got uploaded. Have you found one that hasn't been uploaded? Regarding the shiny current sprites, I'll get on it eventually. ^_^ «hexagonTHEORY» 04:30, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
I apologize, it seems the numbers in the categories for the sprites were a bit misleading. I don't believe any are missing. Anyways, thanks for helping us out! Jellotalk 04:39, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Wait, did I categorize them incorrectly, or—? Either way, you're quite welcome; really, I'm happy to use my area of expertise to help Bulbapedia in any way possible. «hexagonTHEORY» 05:01, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
You didn't do anything wrong. Some Pokémon do not have shiny forms so I'm guessing that's what accounted for the misleading numbers. Don't worry, and thanks again. Jellotalk 05:11, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Erm, aren't Castforms's alternates the only Pokémon without a shiny sprite? Also, just out of curiosity: why aren't I allowed to have a user page here yet? «hexagonTHEORY» 05:16, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
Did you upload a third version of the Wobbuffet back sprite that contains no gender? (Not only the Wobbuffet but others too.)—★Pika3323 20:42, 1 February 2011 (UTC)

Upload requests

I was looking around and saw that some of the PokéPark Wii images are still not uploaded yet, such as :File:PPW092.png, :File:PPW093.png, and :File:PPW094.png. Do you think you can get around to them anytime soon? Thanks in advance. ht14 16:19, 26 January 2011 (UTC)
