Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, DoTheWave!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
 • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
 • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
 • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
 • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
 • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
 • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the i-Personal template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
 • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
 • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
 • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Hi

Please do not upload files with non-alphanumeric characters in its name. The only characters allowed are A-Z, a-z, and 0-9. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 21:11, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

 • Sorry I uploaded another picture like that before i got the message i'll remember that DoTheWave 21:52, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 22:36, 12 April 2010 (UTC)

Umm... categorizing means that you add categories... An example is Category:Mantine. ht14 01:05, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Second warning. ht14 21:21, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok, this will be your final warning. You have been here long enough to know the rules. Please categorize and license. ht14 22:38, 18 May 2010 (UTC)

Linking

Linking here is not the same as it is on the wiki. You have to use bp in order to make the links reach the actual wiki. Don't put Phantom. You mus put Phantom. in order for the link to actually work. MaverickNate 21:24, 18 April 2010 (UTC)

Correction on Maverick's part. It's The Phantom. Also, can you be a bit more consistent? You use p for some of your files, and then decide not to in another. Another example is you using PNG on some and png for others... ht14 22:10, 18 April 2010 (UTC)
Also, p is fine. You don't have to write p. ht14 01:05, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Lowercase extensions. pngs, not PNGs. Thank you. ht14 03:02, 19 April 2010 (UTC)
Ok, final warning. If you don't, you will be blocked. Actually, I'm being nice, seeing as you would've been blocked for not categorizing (your three warnings). ht14 02:46, 27 May 2010 (UTC)

Categorising properly

When you categorise files, do not write , as this will transclude the content of the category page onto the filename. To categorise the file in the category, write . Cheers. —darklordtrom 22:30, 20 April 2010 (UTC)

You don't need the colon. And if Ash's Pikachu is in the article, then you need to put . We categorise everything we can see. —darklordtrom 22:52, 20 April 2010 (UTC)
Just noticed you were using again, it's if you forgot. Also, you don't need to upload a new file to add a category, just click on the edit tab to edit the information on the file. -- JelloTalk 04:01, 23 May 2010 (UTC)
And I think you uploaded the same image to replace another that looks the same twice. Don't do that. tc²₆tc26 04:21, 23 May 2010 (UTC)

Movie pics

Stop uploading those cropped movie pics. The Pokemon movies were shot in 1.85:1 widescreen, not 1.33:1 fullscreen, like the TV show was before. Since you haven't found any full widescreen images from the Pokémon movies (I've replaced all of them), you are obviously incapable of finding the correct sized pics. But I'll cut you some slack, they are difficult to find. So leave it to people who can find full images. And check your spelling on the articles on Bulbapedia. That's an absolute must. Thanks. --Hmdwgf 05:59, 22 April 2010 (UTC)

Is it Photobucket? Then yes, that's ok. But that's not a good pic. It's cropped on the sides and it's bad quality. Remember, only get pics that are widescreen from Pokemon movies. --Hmdwgf 12:17, 24 April 2010 (UTC)

Uhh...

I dunno if I told you, but anime screenshots are supposed to be png, not jpg. ht14 21:07, 3 May 2010 (UTC)

Second warning. Also, don't forget to provide a summary. ht14 21:26, 11 May 2010 (UTC)

Hey

It would be helpful if you could add in a summary to your uploads as well. A simple sentence like "Chaz's Venomoth" is fine. Thanks. JelloTalk 23:49, 21 May 2010 (UTC)

And another thing: Uncompressed .pngs are the pic format for this website. Not compressed .jpgs. (.png is higher quality.) Find a way to convert the file, then upload it as a .png format. This goes for all types of format files excluding TCGs (Trading Card Game pics). An administrator has already warned you twice. You can be blocked for uploading .jpgs. --Hmdwgf 17:53, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

Blocked

You have been blocked for ignoring the constant warnings I've given you. As a cooldown, you are going to be blocked for a week. Any more and the block will be longer... ht14 21:08, 28 May 2010 (UTC)

Alright, looks like you have asked for another block. You have uploaded another image with non-alphanumeric characters despite the warning I've given you before. For that, you're going to have another 1-week block. ht14 03:35, 16 November 2010 (UTC)

Overworld Anipngs

Please don't bother uploading them. There were so many things wrong with the ones you're uploading, I just don't know where to start. If you need an anipng uploaded, please contact me on my talkpage so I can at least get it right. JelloTalk 22:24, 30 June 2010 (UTC)

Suggestion

Hey Wave, appreciate your effort for uploading the images. There's nothing wrong with taking the images from filb but they've got images in .jpgs. Saving a .jpg to a .png isn't really preferred here. It's better if you can get a better quality and save that as .png. Thanks ♫♪AdyNiz♪♫ 05:40, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Regarding personal and custom sprites

We are no longer allowing personal and custom sprites anymore; if you want to show the image, do so via a link instead. Sorry for the inconvenience. ht14 01:59, 1 June 2011 (UTC)

Hello

Sorry if I sound rude. But, please do not upload over an anime image that is full 720 HD unless the image you are uploading is also full 720 HD...Thank you. Ataro 05:56, 8 July 2011 (UTC)

Mega Stones

How did you obtain all of the missing sprites for the Mega Stones? - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:07, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

I have a capture card for my 3DS DoTheWave (talk) 21:11, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Then, I would like to request that you provide a screenshot of a Fletchling named "Archives". Unfortunately, we've had a fair number of sprite thefts in the last few months, and we need to confirm claims of capture card ownership. I hope you understand. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:18, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
Additionally, please keep conversations to one talk page. It's easier to follow a conversation when it's all in one place. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 21:26, 9 December 2013 (UTC)
I do hate to seem impatient, but it has been over twenty-four hours since I made the above request. It is of the utmost importance that you provide the requested screenshot as soon as possible. Your uploaded item sprites may be deleted if the requested screenshot is not provided within a timely manner. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 02:47, 11 December 2013 (UTC)
As noted earlier, I have deleted the sprites you uploaded. However, if you can provide the requested screenshot, I will happily restore the files. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 01:18, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
