Welcome back

Just thought I would give you a warm welcome back to Bulbapedia Cipher, congratulations on your temporary admin status and thanks for your help moving images with outdated titles.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 20:09, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hey, thank you so much! It's nice to be back and helping the cause. It's a very long time since I last contributed anything significant on here, so please do let me know if I make any mistakes I don't catch, or if I make any changes that go against convention. I think I've got the gist of the way things work, but I very much want to make sure I'm doing things right. Cipher (talk) 20:19, 11 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

TCGP Emblems

Hi, just wanted to let you know the B1 ranked match emblems were sourced from the game files. NaMroz (talk) 15:50, 1 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message - did you source them directly from the game files yourself, or from a third-party website/source etc. that published them (and if so, what was the website)? Cipher (talk) 19:45, 1 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
For TCG Pocket files I upload them mostly from ChicoEevee's drive ( https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_2YURmd7dYnCX3VuDLQobLNSJbAeavpt ). If you'd rather I didn't, I'll stop and leave uploading mobile games assets to others. NaMroz (talk) 19:49, 1 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the confirmation of the source for those.
First of all, I want to clarify that when we say that game or app files should only be uploaded when sourced by the user, we mean that it's the user's responsibility to source these files directly from the game or app in question, as images taken from a third-party source without permission or credit are considered to be stolen images, per our FAQ. I'm certainly not going to ask you to refrain from uploading mobile assets at this time, just to be aware of this going forward; I should also note that as as a wiki and a staff team, we're going to be undertaking some work to make our image standards clearer in the future, as we've identified this as something that needs action following a takedown notice.
Regarding external sources, here's the issue we have as a wiki: even if ChicoEevee says they got the files directly from the app, we don't know if they've altered the images in any way, so we'll need to continue to replace the files directly with ones from the app. We also can't be sure that their files contain everything that we would need for our coverage. This is the sort of thing that makes other websites unreliable sources, and why--wherever possible--we need to be sourcing images directly from games or apps if we can. In the case of Pocket, we can, so spending time uploading images for this particular game might not be the best use of time anyway. I'd recommend looking into other image needs to continue to help out on the Archives, and naturally, there's also our coverage on the wiki itself, Pocket included.
I hope that helps clear things up a bit. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out and myself or another staff member will be able to help and advise. Cipher (talk) 14:55, 2 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Thank you so much for the answer. NaMroz (talk) 15:08, 2 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Mega Zygarde ex Premium Collection

Hi, I didn't notice you already uploaded the image of the product user the name 'File:Mega Zygarde ex Premium Collection box.png' since I checked only 'File:Mega Zygarde ex Premium Collection.png', analogously to the 'File:Mega Venusaur ex Premium Collection.png' you uploaded earlier. Yuo can delete the duplicate I uploaded, just wanted to ask you which file naming notion will you use from now on, so I can link the images properly. NaMroz (talk) 07:38, 13 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

Hi! Thanks for letting me know. Let me seek some advice on this, because I realised recently that even I don't name them consistently myself, and I do need to, so I'll gather some thoughts about what the best way forward is, and I'll get back to you (probably by replying here, which you'll hopefully be notified about).
