Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Darknesslover5000!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbapedia Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

HGSS images

They should be png, taken from a 1x windowed game window, and please do not use the COMPLETELY unofficial English patch when taking pictures with text. Thanks. UltimateSephiroth 18:07, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

Screenshot licensing

When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and will lessen the workload of people trying to clean up the Archives. Thanks. --MaverickNate 19:06, 28 September 2009 (UTC)

This is the second time you haven't followed this rule. Also, lowercase extensions. MaverickNate 22:23, 19 December 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --—darklordtrom 02:37, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

Image names

Also remember to use sensible image names. File:1254450713853.JPEG is not an acceptable name. Also, JPEG files are more often than not low quality. Please make images in png format instead. These are preferred. —darklordtrom 02:37, 2 October 2009 (UTC)

But it's a start though. Follow the rules, and you'll be fine. ht14 02:41, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
As one of the admins said, please upload your pics in .png, not .jpg or any other type of file. .png is preferred because it is a higher quality picture format. And categorize your images, by doing this: Category: so-and-so with 2 ['s and 2 ]'s on the corresponding side. It is important that you do that. --Hmdwgf 07:28, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
Yes, and for a good reason. But I'm not part of this whole thing, I just run my own operation while conceding to the sensical rules here. Anyway, the .png letters should be more lowercase, but that's not as important as making sure you upload pics with no logos or sprites on them. And the one you just uploaded (Chikorita's Sweet Scent) was very poor quality and did not show the actual attack, only the frames right before the attack. --Hmdwgf 21:55, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
No, not really. If you're going to upload bad pictures like that, don't upload them at all. People are stingy about everything here. That's just the way things work around here. But it's only because everybody (well, mostly everybody) here wants to make this website as good as possible. Most experienced users (especially the admins) are not friendly towards new users, after a while they start to pick on you less and eventually, after you've learned how things really work around here, no one will bug you, even if you make small mistakes. And you should make contributions of all kinds, because there have been many users in the past who only edited their own pages and made very few, if any contributions at all. That annoys the admins because they won't see any point in letting you stay as a user because you're not really doing anything. Don't do that. Make lots of different contributions all over the site, not just your own page and the trivia sections. Do that, and you'll be just fine. --Hmdwgf 04:46, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Sprites

Good job in uploading shiny game sprites. And it would be better if you place summary template like what I did here. Thanks, Kevzo8 03:10, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Great then! I hope you continue doing well in uploading games sprites. ;) Kevzo8 17:17, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

LGPE move images

I noticed that you uploaded a variety of screenshots of moves being used in LGPE... I hate to tell you, but there's already images for all of these moves, if you go to their move pages on Bulbapedia. They're under the file names File:(move name) PE.png. --celadonk (talk) 16:09, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

My apologies, it was just Earthquake. I put a deletion request on EarthquakeLGPE.png. --celadonk (talk) 16:12, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee! move images

"PE" is the abbreviation genrally used by Bulbapedia for Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!. In the future, please add "PE" to the end of the move images you add as opposed to "LGPE". - Chosen (Talk) 01:07, 21 September 2019 (UTC)

Also, please add the appropriate move template into your images. Right now, you're just leaving them without any kind of summary. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:18, 22 September 2019 (UTC)
Please leave your replies to the original talk page. But thank you! Also, in case no one has added templates to the pictures you forgot them from, feel free to add them to those too. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 19:23, 24 September 2019 (UTC)
I'll give them a looksee as soon as I wake up.--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 07:50, 25 September 2019 (UTC)
