Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Werdnae!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Regarding your uploads

Hey, don't forget to categorize your Pokés. ht14 02:45, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Oops, sorry. I'm new to this whole animated image thing. I'll remember to add all the categories in future. Werdnae (talk) 03:05, 31 August 2010 (UTC)

Just Wondering

Does it really matter whether it's the chapter cover for Pokémon Adventures? If not... then, I would think that whatever fits most well with the title/story of the chapter should be up there. ht14 00:56, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

CP said the title page would be prefered. It prevents too major spoilers in the infobox and makes the images more consistent. Werdnae (talk) 01:07, 26 October 2010 (UTC)
Well, seeing as CP's in charge, that's fine then. ht14 01:17, 26 October 2010 (UTC)

Hm...

Hey Werd, I was thinking...I know how upload the images for moves and junk and all but, don't you think it'd be best if we uplaod moves from other chapters of Pokespe (as in RS, FRLG, DP etc..) because some moves are used quite frquently and I feel it's kind of a waste to not show how different the move is during the course of the series Ataro 22:03, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

It probably is a good idea for the moves that have changed. Obviously there's no point if they are the same. I'm only uploading the images that I've scanned myself, so I've only got access to volumes 1-9 at the moment. You'd need to do the rest, but it might be a good idea to check with CoolPikachu! or Zesty Cactus first. The template for the move pages does have space for four images, which would probably be better used showing how the move has changed over time than just showing different Pokémon. Werdnae (talk) 22:14, 14 November 2010 (UTC)

Congratulations

Thanks for all the hard work you've done on the Archives. Welcome aboard the new team. I trust that you will use your new power-up well and help keep this place organized. Now go delete useless images D:< Jellotalk 09:21, 6 January 2011 (UTC)

Thanks! Werdnae (talk) 03:31, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Re: I don't really remember what it was.

Yeah, no problem. Expect more from me these weeks we're going to change. Masatoshi talk contribs 08:56, 29 January 2011 (UTC)

Werdy Werd

Your dedication to Archives in helping it get to were it is today has amazed us. Keep up the good work, Werdnae, Senior Administrator. --P S Yライダー 21:10, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Really late thanks, Psy. Werdnae (talk) 08:01, 12 April 2011 (UTC)

Well this is a pickle. Asking about over-2MB image uploads.

So... I've been working on uploading animated PNGs for 5th gen move animations. When I've had one over 2MB, I just relayed it to Masatoshi, but I noticed he's been absent (and has just switched his status to hiatus). So do I just take it up with someone else? Would you be able to relay some images for me? Or do you know someone who would? If so, that'd be great. - Trainer Hunter 19:36, 30 September 2011 (UTC)

Masatoshi's just sort of lost interest in editing for the moment, and so is taking a break for a bit until he gets back in the groove. I can do it when I'm online, but I've been on a bit sporadically lately due to real life stuff. Technically any admin or higher can do it (Junior administrators can't), but not everyone may be willing to, you may just need to ask around. Werdnae (talk) 04:38, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Ah, so that's what's up. I hope he enjoys his break, then. And I hope you don't mind if I relay the bunch of pictures here, then.
Heart Swap
Heal Order
Spacial Rend

Fire Blast

Thankfully most of the stuff I've been making has gone under 2 MB but if I come up with any more (and I probably will), I'll just use this post area. It shouldn't be this much all in one day or anything, especially since I'm attending to other things at other places I hang around. And thanks. There's no rush to put these up or anything, just feel free to do so whenever you have time. - Trainer Hunter 06:05, 1 October 2011 (UTC)
Sorry about the delay, I've been a bit busy (and dealing with slow internet). They should be uploaded now (Thanks Jo). Werdnae (talk) 08:02, 6 October 2011 (UTC)
Ah thanks! And thanks Jo. In that case should I just redirect any future images in Jo's direction? Or are you still fine with here? Or whatever works. And for the record I've been pretty busy so I haven't had the time to make some more animated PNGs. - Trainer Hunter 06:48, 7 October 2011 (UTC)
If you'd like to post images in my direction, I'd be fine with that. I am around a little more than Werd is lately because of real life situations, so it'd get done a little faster this way. Either way, I'll see it no matter where you post them at. :P Jo The Marten 03:16, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

Illusionary

Can you restore File:Zorua Illusion finish.png since File:Zorua Illusion.png is no longer animated. Think about it first before restoring it. Pattyman 05:25, 6 February 2012 (UTC)

I've restored it. Werdnae (talk) 02:54, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

Question

Is there a way I could delete the files that I upload ?----DJWolfy 20:36, 28 February 2012 (UTC)

Put the {{delete}} template on the top of them, and an admin will get to them. Only administrators are able to delete files. Werdnae (talk) 22:08, 28 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you! Btw how did you made your archives userpage redirect to bulbapedia userpage ?----DJWolfy 13:07, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
#REDIRECT [[bp:User:Werdnae]] Werdnae (talk) 20:58, 29 February 2012 (UTC)
Thank you !----DJWolfy 14:30, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

Town maps

Even though the majority of the Town map images are supposed to be saved as a gif, there were some that are saved as a png. Should we keep the png ones as well? Pattyman 04:28, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

If you encounter an inconsistency, your best bet is probably to ask about it rather than jumping right in. In this case I defer to Kogoro to decide which is better. Werdnae (talk) 05:55, 14 March 2012 (UTC)
Can you restore the town map gifs that were deleted then? Pattyman 23:39, 14 March 2012 (UTC)

Move

This image is in an erroneous category "Dsuclops" instead of Dusclops "Box XD 356.png". I would have changed it but when I'm in the editing license mode, all other categories don't show there meaning they must have been placed somewhere else. I also tried to put the move template but didn't know how to use it in order to specify why must be moved. Anyway, here it is.----DJWolfy 19:00, 22 March 2012 (UTC)

Adyniz fixed it. For future reference, that category is added by the summary template, so the name needs to be corrected in the summary template. Werdnae (talk) 22:05, 22 March 2012 (UTC)
Well these are the categories "Categories: DusclopsXD box spritesAnimated imagesSpecial imagesAnimated png filesGame sprites" and in the summary template appear these "{{Coloxdbox|356|Dusclops|XD}} {{anipng}}. That means, by adding the latter transforms the category into the ones before the latter ?----DJWolfy 15:11, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
The use of that template ensures categorization. The {{coloxdbox}} template adds the Box sprites category, and the second parser (Dusclops) adds the Dusclops category. XD box sprites category is added through the third parser (which says XD). Animated png and Special images categories are added when you add the {{anipng}} template. The Game sprites category is added based on its licensing, in this case {{i-Fairuse-screenshot-game}}. Hope that clears up some of it; though, you should be able to figure it out based on previewing and playing around with the parsers. ht14 15:18, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
I understand now thanks ! Also, how can I use the move template in order to specify the reason on it (the reason section on it, how can I write on it?)----DJWolfy 15:29, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
That is the third parser. The first parser is probably used for the original file; the second one is for where it should be moved. ht14 16:47, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
