Bulbagarden Archives logo.png
Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, FinnishPokéFan92!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbapedia Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

To quote the welcome

All extensions must be lowercase. MaverickNate 18:52, 1 November 2009 (UTC)

To add to that

Please don't upload bad-quality pics like that. All anime pics have to be in the .png format. Never in any other format, especially .jpg. Why? Because .png is a higher quality picture format than .jpg. Keep that in mind. --Hmdwgf 22:51, 3 November 2009 (UTC)

Please upload in png. Thank you. ht14 18:03, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
PNG. Please. ht14 18:29, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Pics with logos at the bottom

I don't think anybody told you this, so I'm going to tell you: Please don't upload anime pics with logos on them. Never ever do that. Plus, upload pics in .png format that are high quality and are larger than 200x150, not in any other format, inculding the .jpg format. It is so imperative you don't upload another pic like this. --Hmdwgf 23:03, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

OK. I got it. --FinnishPokéFan92 18:22, 18 November 2009 (UTC)
I don't think you do. Either you're ignoring me or you have no idea what a logo is. You're most likely ignoring me because you are also still uploading .jpgs. Just in case you don't know, a television station logo is a symbol that represents a broadcasting company. Such as a WB logo which was the American TV station Pokémon was initially broadcast on from 1998 - 2006. And one of the pictures you uploaded has that very logo on it. Stop uploading those bad pics, ESPECIALLY the ones with logos on them. I'm going to send you an e-mail with something useful inside it. --Hmdwgf 01:30, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
OK, I thought so. And what comes to jpgs, my image source has its images in jpg-form. --FinnishPokéFan92 13:44, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
If you could name me a possible image source besides bulbapedia, serebii.net and photobucket, I'd be glad to hear it. --FinnishPokéFan92 13:45, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
I can't do that, and most of the pics on serebii and photobucket are bad quality anyway. I sent you an e-mail with a legit website to convert .jpg pics into .png format. Did you get it?
And you're still not listening to me. And you're not categorizing your images either ((just type Category: subject with two ['s and ]'s on each side) at the line below the description), you just uploaded a horrendous quality pic that is .jpg and doesn't belong on this website. Don't upload pics like the Muk's Sludge Bomb you uploaded, I replaced it. It's recommended that you do these things. P.S: Stop uploading pics like that. --Hmdwgf 15:15, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 18:31, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Header images

When you upload a higher quality image for an anime header, please change the template from the temporary Bulbanews one to the proper header template. Ataro (talk) 03:35, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Understood. Thanks for the information. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 15:44, 29 March 2013 (UTC)

Yellow Trainer Sprites

Generation I sprites, just like Pokémon sprites need to be 56 x 56 pixels. Please make sure to upload the sprites at these dimensions. G50 06:18, 8 May 2013 (UTC)

Blocked

The Bulbagarden Archives has a firm stance against taking images from other fansites, including an important message about Pokémon X and Y images posted just before the re-opening of the Bulbagarden Archives. Since the six Mega Stone sprites you uploaded were all taken from another fansite, you have been blocked for a duration of three days per the details of the aforementioned message. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 12:29, 9 November 2013 (UTC)

Mewtwo's creators

I'd be glad to upload that image. I do have it, though the black-haired woman's face is slightly cut off. I think the image of their lab should still be present, though, so I'm going to rearrange their Bulbapedia page a little to include both. Glad I was of help. --The Great Butler (talk) 07:20, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

Anime screenshots

HD era screenshots from the anime should be no larger than 1280×720 pixels. Additionally, please do not upload extremely blurry images such as this. Thanks, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 11:47, 7 January 2014 (UTC)

XY015

Well, turns out that the 2014 preview was aired at the end of a 40-minute special recap for the XY series. The sceenshot I got for XY015 comes from a brief intro that aired before said recap, but it didn't have any new clips besides Chespin vs. Delphox a brief shot of Ash and Pikachu hugging from the Malamar episode. I haven't found a video for it, I got the footage because I downloaded it, but I think we aren't allowed to put download links here. The new scene was 2 seconds long, so you aren't missing anything if you watched the 2014 preview, though. --Gabo 2oo (talk) 20:15, 9 January 2014 (UTC)

XY020

Hey, Clemont's Dedenne in episode XY020 once again was playing cameo appearance, in some scenes it was absent completely. Also Furfrou and Heliolisk appear in this episode, but in a fantasy. Add this on this page this is one of a few episode where Dedenne makes cameo appearance, even though it is absent for every other part of the episode. There is also an error of Dusknoir's eye, when it fainted. Also, The title card segment focuses on Ash for this episode XY020. Pikachu65 (talk) 11:34, 20 March 2014 (UTC)

ORAS game locations

You uploaded a few images like File:Champion Steven room ORAS.png. I was wondering where you got those images. They're about twice as big as screenshots should be (to my knowledge, 400x240), and they even have inconsistencies in dimensions, which is odd for a screenshot. Tiddlywinks (talk) 17:30, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

I must admit, I took them from various YouTube videos. I tried to take as good quality images as possible, but the dimensions were something I just couldn't affect. I hope this won't be (at least too big of) a problem. I just wanted the images to be uploaded, and they can always be updated. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:46, 23 December 2014 (UTC)
At the very least, I don't think it's permitted to just "take" images from a YouTube video, unless you've explicitly been given permission by the uploader. But one way or another, staff will be the ones to take action if any is warranted. I totally sympathize with just wanting ORAS images, though... =P Tiddlywinks (talk) 21:18, 23 December 2014 (UTC)

Be Nice.

So you're aware, the code of conduct on Bulbapedia extends to the Bulbagarden Archives as well. This message is very rude, is in clear violation of the code of conduct, and has been removed for such. There is never a reason to take jabs at someone like that, whether they're blocked or not. Play nice. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 08:50, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Of course. I just felt a bit insulted and left an angry response in a moment of frustration. Sorry about that. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 11:35, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

Block

You have been a contributor here long enough to know our policies on edit/upload warring. If you disagree with an upload that someone has made, you should discuss with either that user or on a talk page. Just because one party in a dispute is blocked does not give you permission to revert and continue the upload war. You have been blocked until January 1st, when you return, please keep our policies in mind. Thank you. --Pokemaster97 23:01, 28 December 2016 (UTC)

You said "This text should be in the edit summary, not the page itself"

I did put it in the summary when I uploaded it, but whatever I type in it ends up on the page itself. Unless, is there's a method I don't know about? Unowninator (talk) 06:14, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

No there isn't. I just remembered that when uploading pictures, everything written in the "summary" section will be displayed on the page, so you should only put the description of your picture there. PS. Please use shorter titles, okay? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 06:25, 1 May 2017 (UTC)

Request

Any chance you can upload a pic of the Grubbin from SM069, the videos I have come with subtitles and there is a song playing over the sequence, preventing me from getting a good image.--BigDocFan (talk) 13:58, 15 April 2018 (UTC)q

Nope. I have the same problem. Sorry. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 14:05, 15 April 2018 (UTC)
Thanks anyway, will have to wait for the dub then.--BigDocFan (talk) 14:51, 15 April 2018 (UTC)

Image description correction Thanks

Thanks for correcting the description for File:GO434.png for me. Tag365 (talk) 16:02, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

No problem. If you're unsure how to do a proper description, just copy-paste and edit a similar one. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:49, 25 October 2018 (UTC)

Harper and Sarah

Thought I would get your opinion before trying again, how does this image look? https://postimg.cc/G9zmH4dC--BigDocFan (talk) 15:38, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Image not found... --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:12, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

It's definitely better than the last one. Is there not a shot where they would be facing the camera, even a little more? If not, this one is perfectly serviceable. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 16:24, 28 October 2018 (UTC)
Best I can find for now, hopefully they'll appear in future episodes where a better image can be found.--BigDocFan (talk) 16:45, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Request

Could you upload images of the Ultra Ranger's Pokemon for me? I would but have to take a break from my computer--BigDocFan (talk) 14:27, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Are you able to upload an image of the Torkoal seen in the Cafe?--BigDocFan (talk) 09:15, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Not sure. The song lyrics may get in the way. And I do not have access to my screenshot capture option right now. Sorry. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 09:16, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
Thanks anyway, have asked Chosen to see if he could upload an image, if not, I'll have to wait until the dub comes out--BigDocFan (talk) 09:18, 13 May 2019 (UTC)
I'm unable to find any clean videos of the latest episode, was wondering if you could upload an image for SM135 of Kiawe and Mimo together?--BigDocFan (talk) 13:02, 18 August 2019 (UTC)
Done! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 13:25, 18 August 2019 (UTC)

Template

Sorry! I'll do that with future uploads!--Darknesslover5000 (talk) 18:54, 24 September 2019 (UTC)

Mimey

Hey. I uploaded a different pic for Mimey. It's probably the only other full body shot I could get from the episode. It's kinda awkward, so if you don't think it's that great, just revert it, and I'll try to look for a better one in the future hopefully. Just letting you know. :]--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 18:45, 29 December 2019 (UTC)

The biggest problem is that your images are bigger than the maximum size of 1280×720. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 18:57, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
There is no maximum size. There's the maximum file size, yes, but your file is not permitted to be uploaded if you go over it. Other than that, there's no policy to what size the pictures have to be so long as they follow the usual ratio (which these pictures do cuz they're ripped straight from the episode and are completely unedited), at least to my knowledge. If I alter their size, the pictures get slightly smushed. If there is a policy for that, link it to me and I'll gladly overwrite the uploads. :]--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 19:03, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
There's a slight, 10 pixel difference. It's slight, but it's there. And I'd rather not upload altered pictures, unless an admin specifically asks me to do so. :] Hope you understand.--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 19:10, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
1280×720 is a recommended size for uncropped anime images. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 20:37, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
You keep saying that, but you don't link me any policies or admin comments that enforce that (i.e. because there is no such thing)... We have pics like Misty's Golduck for example, that are glued together just because it was the only way to showcase a full body shot of the Pokemon. I saw Chosen was contacted, so if he asks me to reupload the pictures in said size (whether that would risk damaging the pictures or not,) I'll do that no problem. :]--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 20:44, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
Otherwise, if you want to re upload the pics in the size you prefer them to be in, you can do that if you really want to. :]--ShallowShaddoll (talk) 20:46, 29 December 2019 (UTC)
