It's just the source where I get them from. In some cases though, I edit them in Photoshop to sharpen the picture (or sharpen edges only if the background is good) so it looks clearer. Sometimes I even adjust the levels or contrast if the picture is too dark or bright, but just a bit and without messing with the colors, since the Archives standards aim for minimal alteration.
