:Yes, I was the one, I'm trying to check if you follow the same procedure I have done, it seems that you do, you don't have to worry about the file size, however, if some of them exceeds the 2 MB limit, give it to me so I can upload it instead. Also, for steadiness, I'd ask you to rather follow a move list in alphabetic order, pick a generation and start from Absorb 'till last move, please. That way, it's easier for us to track which ones aren't moving or the ones that need an animation, you should check the moves list in Bulbapedia for an accurate listing, click to toggle the Generation one, and do that one and the previous ones (if that's the case).
:And don't be surprised for the frames, remember that Generation I was pretty simple on moves + everything white + shitty graphics, especially with Tackle and Leer, by far the most basic moves. Also, please, sign '''''EVERY''''' new comment you do (even the P.S. ones), that way I know when you replied. I can't find Pokémon with which it would work. I tried with Pidgey's Quick Attack, but every time it's says that it (Counter) missed. Any ideas on what Pokémon I should try using it? :::If you were able to go through the upload form and were directed to the file again, then it got uploaded, however, due to server sync related issues, you might have to reload the page in order to see it, or at least purging it by clicking on the clock right at the left of your nick, which is on the top left corner of your screen. Anyways, the file can be seen, although it can only be seen with underscores currently, so I'll take a wild guess and say it's because of sync problems (has happened before, will happen again). It's animation in Generation I is very fast... I will have to skip it, at least for now... Still Counter is biggest problem, as for now, I have how it works in this generation I... PS.Is there is a list of ALL moves that ARE in Generation III (NOT introduced, a list of moves in total), sorted alphabetically? That would help with Generation III. [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 10:44, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
:You could sort them through Generations and start from the first one that is in III and keep on it until you finish Generations II and I. Also, if the animation is too fast, then slow it down. [[User:Masatoshi|<span style="color: #224a9a"><b><span style="color: #2b5fc7">M</span>asatoshi</b></span>]][[User_talk:Masatoshi|<span style="color: #118eb2"><small>''talk''</small></span>]] 05:07, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
::Slow down? I don't think if I even will be able to record it without skips... Okey 2nd try and got... <s>89</s> 88 frames... Wtf? <s>89</s> 88 frames (and that's ONLY move, with text [mentioned later] it's more)? That's a LOT for this generation. Now I will have to "fix" text (''All STATUS changes are eliminated'') with Paint (copy and paste method), since game for no reason speeded up there (and ONLY there)... [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 08:20, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
::Decided to made text appear instantly, since just animation is a whopping 1,81MB. [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 08:34, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
:::When I say "slow down", I'm talking about the frames, add some FPS until you deem the animation accurate. Also, here's a tip; from now on, after getting the animated png, use this <span class="plainlinks">[http://sourceforge.net/projects/apng/files/APNG_Optimizer/1.0/apngopt-1.0-bin-win32.zip/download optimizer]</span>, it will greatly reduce the amount of space it takes for one to animate these files, have you seen I'm normally getting less than one MB now? I used to have animations between 2~4 MB. That's thanks to that optimizer. [[User:Masatoshi|<span style="color: #224a9a"><b><span style="color: #2b5fc7">M</span>asatoshi</b></span>]][[User_talk:Masatoshi|<span style="color: #118eb2"><small>''talk''</small></span>]] 13:40, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
::::Okey.(response after like 3 weeks? Kinda late). As you say, that optimizer is useful - it cut about 600KB from Night Shade (from {{tt|2,40MB|122 frames. Not expected to get over limit in Gen I... again?}} to 1,81MB) [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 16:37, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
Wait a moment. [http://img801.imageshack.us/img801/5540/nowyobrazmapabitowapk.png What the hell]? That just broke animation. [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 16:45, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
:When you optimize an animation it does that. That particular program doesn't display it properly, but the animation still works nonetheless. <span style="color:red">—<small>♥</small></span> <b>[[User:Jello|<span style="color:orange;">Jello</span>]][[User Talk:Jello|<span style="color:#3FA9D0;">talk</span>]]</b> 22:38, 3 June 2011 (UTC)
::Yes, it's because the program tries to get rid of any useless frame/part of image and thus makes it lighter. You will see a lot of "glitched" animations, but any browser will show it properly. I uploaded ArtChampions.png (the character artwork of the main series League Champions) for use on the [[bp:Pokémon Champion | Pokémon Champion page]], which previously contained sprites but no character artwork. Just uploaded. About 148 frames (~1,5MB before and 742KB after optimizing)... Japanese Yellow uses new animation (that toned down and shorter), <s>not sure which one is used in Japanese Blue</s> (Note:Probably old, due to Japanese Blue [{not so} obviously] being released before Red and Blue). Well Amnesia got 2.5MB ''after'' optimizing, but that's nothing compared to Blizzard - 329 (330 with "skip first frame" stuff) frames (giving about 11,5MB... obviously before optimizing) And that's enough frames to get Exception in JapngEditor. x_x [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 16:48, 17 July 2011 (UTC)

::Try not thumbnailing the file, if you're using "thumb", it's small so there's no need of having it thumbnailed. And regarding Marked: it means that the file is too large and it exceeds the memory the application is granted. You'll have to edit it with APNG Anime Maker. It does not support first frame skip, though, you'll have to use APNG Anime Maker first, set it up, save it, optimize it, and then use one of the untouched frames (from the folder the files are in) as the first frame. :::::::Guys, we can't talk about that. There is one, though, you'll have to have a powerful computer for it to properly run. Also, I will upload them during the night. Also, Trainer Hunter, your files are too fast. Gonna have to slow 'em down, to around 35~45 ms per frame, check Memento for example. Look how fast that goes, you can barely read what it says. :::::::::Er... well, this is a pickle. I'm recording them at the same speed the game plays, and I don't press a thing (So the text autocancels by itself). The only difference I guess is that I set the ingame text to fast. Since I thought people would want to see the move in action or something. And I haven't had a problem reading the text. So... I guess I'll wait to see what you have to say then. I won't be looking forward to remaking 100+ animated PNGs, though. I've been at this the past few days while I had no internet and it kinda sucks to see that they're all obsolete. Are there some animation guidelines on the site anywhere so I can check? {{unsigned|Trainer Hunter}}
::::::::::Sorry about the sudden new comment, but I just realized a few things. Like how I can just set up examples to help things along. Do you like [http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8885/firefangmidopt.png mid speed] or [http://img577.imageshack.us/img577/7817/firefangslowopt.png slow speed]? I'm probably not gonna set up the text speed like that for the move announcement since, you know. People know the move by the time they see the image. And as far as I've seen every other image doesn't scroll the text on the move announcement. But I'll change up the text speed for any image I've made that involves text that pops up after the move (like for status moves). I'm NOT changing the animation speed though. 16ms is the exact same speed the game plays, and I've done side-by-side comparisons between the PNGs I've made and my own game. I'd like to keep the animation speed the same as the game for accurate re-enactment. Also I don't like that second-length pause. It's kinda long and disorienting. Though I guess to some that sudden shift would be disorienting. Still, I personally think the shift is a pretty good transition myself (Especially since the game usually has some frames or even a second of cooldown before the damage flash) but eh, you're the mod, not me. Anyhow, I've given my examples and said my thoughts so now I'd like to see what you say before I change or don't change any of the masses of images I've got here. - [[User:Trainer Hunter|Trainer Hunter]] 22:31, 15 September 2011 (UTC)
::::::::::::Well, some will need to be remade, but I can back you up on those. Regarding the animation guidelines, there isn't one written, but:
::::::::::::*Frame speed should range between 30~40 ms, in doubt, just ask and show proof.
::::::::::::*Last frame should have a pause of 1000ms.
::::::::::::*Text speed should be normal.
:::::::::::::*The text is automatic, even if you don't press any button, the text will go through after a certain amount of time, so let it flow.
:::::::::::::*Same goes for the animation for the stats either going up or down.
::::::::::::*Every file shall have a first frame for browsers that do not support animated png.
::::::::::::*With certain exceptions, the last frame should be the first one that shows the foe's information after the Pokémon attack.
:::::::::::::*Moves that attack consecutively, for example.
::::::::::::*Animations with attacks that hit several turns later should not include the foe's move unless the move used by the Pokémon gets benefits from it (i.e.: {{m|Bide}}).
::::::::::::All I can think of at the moment. Also. I have that speed because that's what people with the game and the console had advised me, I've shown them countless images, and they say the speed I did is good enough, so that's why I'm suggesting it. Although a person I'm asking about this says it's fine, but PsychicRider tells me that yours are too fast (he has both games and a console), and that they should be slowed down. Plus he agrees that it's better to have it slower so people can read whatever the text is. :::::Yeah I saw what you did with Curse, but with more than two variations, yeah it'd be a jumble. == More APNG help ==
So, I uploaded several .apngs of moves from Gen III, and the problem is that I don't know how to change the first thumbnail to one for browsers that don't support .apng animations. The method I used was to record the animation on vba with Hypercam, create a .gif from the resulting video, then convert that to an .apng file. It works fine in Firefox, but Chrome shows only the first frame. [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] also talked about changing the speed of different actions in the animation (text speed, etc.), although I don't see why that is an issue. I think if I can at least get the thumbnail correct, it should be fine. Please help! --[[User:Jdthebud|Jdthebud]] 05:33, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
:Thanks to Photoshop and animget (this makes .bmp every 10ms, do not use it all full screen, but at normal, default size). Photostop converts it into .png via... I think it was called batching or something, I don't remember.... And then I make apng in Japng editor (or, in case of 220+ frames, APNG Anime Maker as japng editor runs out of memory in bigger animations). Frame 0 represents the still frame for browsers that don't support animated .pngs, and I click skip first frame to make it not appear in animation, yet be saw in thumbnail ([http://img51.imageshack.us/img51/6356/trollol.png like this]. After making animation, I optimize it to make it fit in limit (though that failed for {{m|Blizzard}} and {{m|Dream Eater}} due to background). And the text... if text is too fast people won't be able to read it. I saw few times where text was too fast, and I couldn't read it. Masatoshi gave links for programs I need. [[User:Marked +-+-+|Marked +-+-+]] 12:31, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
::Here's what I ended up doing. I loaded the apng I made already into JapngEditor (it loads frames from apng but not gif), then took a screenshot of the thumbnail for nonsupported browsers and inserted it at the top and skipped the first frame. Then I played around a bit with the frame speed (mostly first and last) where applicable (didn't fool around much with the actual move animation speed, as it was good already) and saved it. Checking it out, it showed the thumbnail in Chrome and the animation in Firefox. This won't work for the long animations that need APNG Anime Maker, as it won't load the inidividual frames from anpg or gif files, but I don't think any of the moves I uploaded (except maybe Rock Blast or something) will need me to use AnimGet and APNG Anime Maker. Thanks for your help, Marked +-+-+! --[[User:Jdthebud|Jdthebud]] 23:34, 8 November 2011 (UTC)
== gen IV move animations ==
So now I want to try and do some gen IV move animations. Should I use no$gba or Desmume? I just don't know which one gives the best representation of the DS animation for the Gen IV games. I've heard that no$gba doesn't render transparency at all, but Desmume seems to have it's own problems rendering animations, especially in Platinum. HG/SS seems to be fine, though. Which one should I use? --[[User:Jdthebud|Jdthebud]] 19:19, 13 November 2011 (UTC)
:I would use Desmume, because no$gba does have a problem in the fact that it doesn't transparentise at all (meaning there are loads of black patches; see [[:File:Dragon Dance IV.png|this]] as an example). Desmume also runs at the speed of the computer, so the animation speed is always the same.--[[User:Chalkwriter|<span style="color:green">Chalk</span>]][[User talk:Chalkwriter|<span style="color:red">writer</span>]] 17:10, 14 November 2011 (UTC)
::What Chalkwriter said, Desmume emulates the DS environment a lot better than NO$GBA. Platinum having problems? Are you sure? Whenever I animated for Platinum I saw no issues. :::Okay, I think I know what the issue might have been. I was using the recording feature on Desmume, and that when I noticed that the screen would be overly bright, making moves like Dark Pulse be ethereal. When I checked again by playing normally, the animations seem to be fine, if only a bit different with transparency. I'll try and make sure with some more experimentation, then I'll get back to you if I find any issues. Thanks for your input. --[[User:Jdthebud|Jdthebud]] 08:20, 15 November 2011 (UTC)

You do not understand... I was only blocked that first time for 3 DAYS. 3*2 does not equal 14. Darthrai jumped right ahead to put incorrect information 5 days after it was settled. :Uh, what does the 3DS have to do with this? Also, you could have tried mailing me through the e-mail feature. We aren't talking about that edit war, we're talking about this one. You and Darthrai both reverted each other a total of seven times (that means, you reverting him, him reverting you, you reverting him and so on), giving you both a week, but since you already participated in another edit war with Satoshi before (and blocked because of that), the time is doubled due reincidence. I don't get what's so hard to understand. ::The 3DS is what I was using to access this page... You said you blocked me based on the first edit war, so yes, the first one has everythig to do with this "Second block due to it." The first block was 3 days. You were supposed to double that. Not the week you gave Darthrai AFTER you blocked me. You are showing an extreme case of bias and I don't see why you should've blocked me in the first place. That means you're placing the blame on me when I specifically used the talkpage to prevent an edit war. Look man, tomorrow's my birthday, so I'd really like it if my birthday present here is that my block is lifted. Considering no staff member ever gave me a warning for any of my three blocks, and didn't tell me I did anything wrong until after I was blocked, that seems very much like an abuse of power. 3*2 '''does not equal''' 14--[[User:SandmanDP|SandmanDP]] 12:13, 30 January 2012 (UTC)
:::Okay, this is getting really tiring, I've told you that the ban depends on '''how many edits both offending parties had in the edit war''', in this case, '''seven'''. Since it's your second block '''due''' to edit warring, the time is '''double'''. 7*2 '''does equal''' 14. You participated in a war twice already (actually three times, but you had a perfectly good reason once and we didn't think you should get punished for reverting a guy who was replacing the redirect with a somewhat empty article). Jo blocked you in that opportunity, she was trying to make you two stop, because you were more than edit warring, you were actually in a quarrel, so she gave you and Satoshi a three day cooldown. '''Not even a full week'''. I'm going through the path of edit war (one day per reverted edit, I think I already mentioned it, and this is your second block because of it, I think I mentioned it too). You are showing an extreme case of denial and I don't see why I should lift your block (this is no longer in my hands since you already e-mailed a member of the Editorial Board, they'll get to it soon). Regarding the talk page, I told him he should have waited until a consensus was reached, something he understood, he will now try to be more careful regarding that. Your birthday is on January 31st? [http://bmgf.bulbagarden.net/members/57170.html Could have sworn it was on August 10th]. In any case, I still won't lift your block, that's up to the EB from now on. Regarding your claim that nobody warned you, [[bp:User_talk:SandmanDP#Recent_edits_on_Emily_Jenness|if this isn't any sort of a warning, then I don't know what it is]]. Trust me, this isn't abusing our power, it's just endorsing the Bulbapedia policies, which is what Administrators are for. I am no longer replying to this in Archives, should you want to keep at it, use the e-mail feature, but if you try to appeal here again and not the aforementioned proper procedure, I'll have to ban your Archives account to expire at the same time than your Bulbapedia account, and all further blocks will be replicated across all Bulbawikis, I saw you undo Pattyman who was doing the right thing, and even Kogs, but that's another story. That was not a warning by a staff member and not about anything I was actually blocked for. You are following your own policies, and YOU SAID the block was based on the previous one, not edits, in your block summary. 3 times 2 does not equal 14. You did not decide on the length of the block until after you blocked me by halving mine to give to Darthrai. YOU WERE WAY TOO HARSH. I was doing what any of you administrators would do IN THE EXACT SAME SITUATION. You are holding unnecessary double standards--[[User:SandmanDP|SandmanDP]] 20:34, 30 January 2012 (UTC)

Anything to do on Archives? (even though I already have stuff to do on Bulbapedia, ie. moves' descriptions...) Could upload something from Pokémon Stadium (both), or Mystery Dungeon (also both, still have Red Rescue Team and Explorers of Sky, though it will be much easier on Rescue Team). == Hmm ==
Sorry if I bloated the edit summary, but yeah, this is the first Wiki I've uploaded an image to that is actually hosted at a sister Wiki (obviously I've done others at Wikipedia that are hosted, well, at Wikipedia, not Commons). As for the image, I can truthfully say I didn't do anything to blow it up; that's the size I got the image at; also, doesn't high quality violate something in the fair use guidelines? I know from Wikipedia when uploading, for instance, an album cover (example of copyrighted material), high resolution is forbidden and would be deleted if uploaded. If it's actually blown up somehow as I added it, a reduced version can be made. In [[bp:Opelucid City|the spot I used it]], it actually is under the 250 px resolution which I found on an image in another article.
I'll have to learn what this BP template is (I know that's a template hence the curly braces - again, longtime Wikipedian here), and categorizing...well, first image uploaded, and found it finally allowed me to upload after a month of lockdown, so I was happy just to get it up and didn't think about categories or how to do them (as again, it's something I've never had to worry about before); perhaps guidance on that might help. =) Nonetheless, I don't foresee myself uploading a large number of images, and for all I know this could be my only one as I tend to look more at text editing, so it may not be an issue in the end.
And yes, this is not Wikipedia, I know...I'm just referencing past experience. [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 03:51, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
:Oh, and I get the name change, it explains the image better. No need to explain; I was trying to keep the filenames simple but if the description can somewhat go in the name, that works too. [[User:CycloneGU|CycloneGU]] ([[User talk:CycloneGU|talk]]) 03:56, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
::Our guidelines are different to Wikipedia's. We want the best quality possible. Remember we are not Bulbapedia in this specific site, it's a sister wiki and as such should be linked properly, either as <nowiki>[[bp:Opelucid City]] or {{bp|Opelucid City}}</nowiki>. The resolution subject at Bulbapedia is probably because it's a thumbnail and it appears fine that way, but when we click it, it doesn't look really good. The {{template|bp}} template allows us to link to an article in Bulbapedia, it's just like using the external link to a sister wiki. [[:Category:Images]] will help you on where to add your file to, take a good look at it and you'll understand, we're not that complicated :P. By the way, yeah, from now on, if you upload any further images, try to not cut back on the name, see if there's a pattern for the image you're uploading and name it as it should be like. :::As I'm not in possession of White 2, I don't have the ability to get a good-quality image; it would take me forever to get to that image, too.
:::I found a video (Black 2 though) where a guy walks right through the fence (cheats obviously) and shows the fence on the other side, plows through THAT and into the forest. The music even changes (different theme) as if Route 10 was originally there without a gatehouse, but no Route 10 marker comes up. I think Route 10 might have been included initially, but perhaps the theme belongs to the default border trees themselves, not what would have been Route 10. Too bad they didn't find a way to reopen part of it after beating the E4 (in other words, script the construction barriers and blocking fence away); it would have been a great way to hide a super item or TM.
:::I'll keep that in mind on the filename in the future, and if someone is playing in Opelucid maybe I can get a save state of it or something to capture the higher-quuality image quickly. At worst, I'm sure a better version can be added on top by someone who wants to improve it. For reference, what dimensions should a screenshot be? There's problem. HGSS added static minisprites of their forms. BW the animated ones. The problem's, BW changed Cherrim's Sunshine minisprite (the one we currently have is HGSS's one, though planning to upload the BW one, reupload HGSS one at different name and put it into the article, since it is technically used in the HGSS Pokédex)... Plus they all exist since HGSS (animated ones since G5; Cherrim has that trolly thing with two static minis, first used in HGSS, second for G5 {{.}}_{{.}}), so you can't say "This is the menusprite of #351 Castform from the Generation III, IV, and V Pokémon games." on Rainy Form's sprite, since it's not truth; and yes I checked Platinum, and seeing only the "female/male" for them. == Sprite gifs to png? ==
Do we want current animated sprites that are in gif form (Crystal, Emerald, Pinball, Trozei) to be anipng, or does it matter since the quality is the same regardless? Reason I'm asking is because I am going to make the Pinball animated sprites transparent, and they are currently in gif form. Also, none of them are tagged as needing to be transformed to anipng. --[[User:Jdthebud|Jdthebud]] ([[User talk:Jdthebud|talk]]) 00:42, 24 February 2014 (UTC)

== Uploading move animations that are over 2MB ==
Hi there, I have been completing the new B2W2 move animations, and have several that are over 2MB in size. If you did, then you'll have to ask us for us to upload the files. ::Yeah, I use Apng Assembler, which optimizes it automatically, and running it through the optimizer actually increases the size sometimes lol. So no way to reduce the file sizes, especially for the moves with more arty graphics like Nightmare and Sacred Fire, and long moves like V-Create. I may also try to get a better quality version of some moves I already uploaded that will be bigger since I took frames out of them to make it smaller. Here are ones I have right now. == Garchomp Mega Evolving image (large file size) ==
I uploaded [[a:File:Garchomp Mega Evolve XY.png|a sample]] of Garchomp Mega Evolving, with the animation running at 5 fps. That was the best frame rate I could get and come under the Archives size limit, but it's kind of choppy. I'd like to offer some alternatives at higher frame rates and larger file sizes, so that maybe you (or someone) could upload a better quality file where I can't.
*First: [http://www.mediafire.com/view/7daa1a3d3j2ia/mega%20garchomp#9r1y21k9s85b72d full Mega Ring activation + Mega Evolution], at 30 fps. '''24.2 MB'''. If you like this version over the versions below that don't include the Mega Ring, I can also offer{{tt|*|You could probably do the same yourself by just unassembling this animation and taking out 1 in 2 or 3 frames and putting it back together at the new frame rate}} 15 fps (12.3 MB) or 10 fps (8.2 MB) versions of this animation.

*[http://www.mediafire.com/view/7daa1a3d3j2ia/mega%20garchomp#e64dezmup27g3u5 Garchomp transformation only (trimmed beginning and end frames)], at 10 fps. '''3.7 MB'''.
If there's some combination of/modification to the above that you'd like to see, just ask.
(All of the above start at the transformation's beginning, and don't have an "ideal" initial frame. If you tell me which version you're partial to, I can easily adjust that. Or maybe you can, with some program. I haven't done that myself, but I think there are supposed to be some that'll do that out there.)

:The problem with these images is that they are too busy and contain a lot of information. That will make the files too heavy even while optimized. While it's a good idea to animate these, we don't think we need these for the moment, especially since they are too heavy. We can allow animated images slight above the 2 MB limit, but going from 4 to 24 MB is too much and will take a toll on those who need to pay based on their internet traffic, not to mention that no image should be as heavy as this. Second of all, this looks like taken from YouTube and the quality is not high enough. If we were to try animating these, we ought to have a capture card device with us to have the best quality. Imagine how heavy the image would be if the quality was clean. A YouTube video showing how the Mega Evolution works would be the best solution for now, so I'm sorry for putting down your work like this. ::So even if I could get animations of some moves from the same or other YouTube videos at 30 fps and only slightly over 2 MB, that wouldn't be good enough quality to use? I actually made an animation for Mud Shot first, at 30 fps, and that was 20 KB over 2 MB (1 KB when optimized as much as possible, but that one took forever to finish). == Rain Gen V Field image for upload ==
Hey there, I actually asked around about this several weeks ago, but didn't get a conclusion on this. I was able to upload all the field weather condition images except for the rainstorm summoned by Thundurus/Tornadus in BW, as the resulting file is too big - the animation is about 4.5 MB due to a) 60 fps, b) high detail, and c) length of the animation. I did experiment with 30 fps, but he animation wasn't clean and the file size barely dropped anyway, even fully optimized. Are you able to upload this?<br/>As an aside on the type of rain it is, I originally thought it was a thunderstorm, but there is no lightning, so I decided it didn't fit with previous generations and reclassified it as Heavy rain instead. FYI, the games say it's "stormy weather". What are your thoughts on this?<br/>The file name should be "Rain V Field Heavy.png" (with Thunderstorm instead of Heavy if you think it should be a thunderstorm). The summary should be a location template "Route 7 during heavy rainfall".<br/>Link: [http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/ll1/jdthebud/JDTHEBUD/Thunderstorm_V.png Gen V rainstorm]<br/>[[User:Jdthebud|Jdthebud]] ([[User talk:Jdthebud|talk]]) 23:47, 30 May 2014 (UTC)

== My aPNG is to big == | |||
Hi, | |||
I made a video of Astonish from XY, which I first saved as a .mp4 (~1MB). Because after searching around I didn't find a program with which I could convert .mp4 to animated .png, I created a sequence of .png files (alltogether ~11MB) and then used the program, APNG Assembler, to convert that into an animated .png file - which then was 8MB. Obviously this is way to big. Is there anything I did wrong? Or is there another way I totally missed? - [[User:Mr. Flix|Mr. Flix]] | [[User_talk:Mr. Flix|My talkpage]] 00:34, 1 August 2014 (UTC)
:Hi. Great to see we have someone else who can help us with XY images! I'd need to know the details of your 8 MB file. Is there a site you could save it in? Imgur, Photobucket or any image sharing site, I would like to see what you have so far. Do you capture and animate both screens? Because we only need the superior screen and if you're capturing both, you can save a lot of space by cropping the files. ::Have you used APNG optimizer? It helps reducing the file's size, by removing redundant parts (You should do it at the very end, though, as {{tt|editing|Changing speed of the frames seems to be fine, though, at least on what I've been using.}} an optimized animation makes it messy, due to the way program works). For example, [[:File:Fire Blast PMD RB.png|this file]] was about 536KB before it went through optimization. You should also include a first frame in the animation that's skipped in the actual animation (as I've done in the file, which is reflected by thumbnail), for the browsers that do not support anipng. Also, I am assuming you've used the 3DS capture card, right? ::::Eridanus: While I appreciate you helping as well, please let me try to talk to him first, since he was directed here. Flix: As Eridanus said, you'd need to optimize your animated png files. [http://sourceforge.net/projects/apng/files/APNG_Optimizer/1.2/ This] is the one I recommend. Just choose your OS and run it, you don't need to install it (as far as I remember). Drag the file into the executable file, and post the result. I'll see if we can use animated images for moves, or if we should stick to stills for this Generation. I'll be honest, though; with the background and the Pokémon moving, there are hardly any redundancies in those stills for the optimizer to get rid of. I hope I'm wrong. == File naming ==
I plan to upload {{bp|clothing}} images in the near future and I was kind of wondering about the naming scheme I intend. My intention is to use names like ''"Clothing Logo Cap Black.png"'' and ''"Clothing Logo Cap Blue.png"''. I don't really know how much "proper" capitalization is a concern here in the Archives, so I don't know if it's any sort of problem to have the colors capitalized like that when, in-game, they're all lowercase. But I want to use those sorts of names so it's dead simple for the clothing template to automatically form image names without the need for any new parameters (or any operations on the parameters, like changing the case). So are those sorts of names okay? [[User:Tiddlywinks|Tiddlywinks]] ([[User talk:Tiddlywinks|talk]]) 19:48, 4 October 2014 (UTC)

::From me. Photo spots show clothes just fine. The only thing that's not really possible is male bags. [[User:Tiddlywinks|Tiddlywinks]] ([[User talk:Tiddlywinks|talk]]) 22:03, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
:::Well... we'd rather have clean shots from capture cards, instead of taking them from photo spots, as they are saved in a lossy jpg format. [[User:Masatoshi|<span style="color: #3363FF; text-shadow: 1px 1px 0px #aaa">'''Masatoshi'''</span>]] [[User_talk:Masatoshi|<span style="color: #ED3B3B; font-family: Times New Roman;">''talk''</span>]] 22:19, 5 October 2014 (UTC)
::::You're right. It's not "perfect" or "ideal". But it's far better than nothing (or even the prospect of nothing for months or years or whatever). Accepting photo spot images for the time being would also allow someone who actually has a capture card to prioritize other needed images over whatever shows up in photo spots. There's just too much that needs doing and far too few people willing and ''able'' to do it at the optimal quality to be that tight-fisted about it, IMO. Imperfect images can always be improved later.
::::So can I ask you to be a bit clearer about this "preference"? Should I absolutely ''not'' upload what I have, or I shall I go ahead with what I have and with the naming as I mentioned above? If possible/necessary, I would ask that you bring it up with general/appropriate staff and return a more or less "official" position for me. Please and thank you... :::::Before giving my reply, I contacted {{u|Kogoro}} about this, and we both agreed that it would be ideal to obtain the models from capture cards themselves instead of having to resort to photo spots, as the capture cards will be clearer to take pictures from, as well as being able to capture every clothing model in detail from the stores. While it's true that we might not have enough people to help, we will eventually get to it; so there's no need to rush it, we have more important things to focus on right now. ::::::Reasons are all well and good. However, they do not necessarily answer my question. I think I know it, but assumptions leave room for mistakes or exceptions or...whatever, which I am loathe to allow. So, to be sure I understand: I absolutely should ''not'' upload my images of clothing from photo spots, correct? == ORAS Demo Sprites ==
Our partner PokéWiki, who we recently sourced for our Gen VI sprites, uploaded the sprites for the Demo's Mega Stones and MS sprites for the four new accessible Mega Pokémon. Do we have clearance to upload those sprites to the Archives? - [[Bp:User:Coffee|<span style="color:#F85888">Chosen</span>]] <span style="color:#6890F0">of</span> [[User talk:Coffee|<span style="color:#F8D030">Mana</span>]] 12:44, 23 October 2014 (UTC)

== X & Y Games and Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire battle sprites ==
Many battle sprites of Pokemon in the four games that I mentioned in the headlines are missing from the Pokemon pages on Bulbapedia. It's too long for me to list, but you and Spriteit forgot to upload the remaining images for the four games mentioned in the headline. Do you think you can find and upload the missing battle sprites (You might have to look at each of the various Pokemon pages on Bulbapedia to know which pages are missing images? Examples of Pokemon missing battle sprites includes Gyarados and Steelix. The missing battle sprites (in national Pokedex order) start at the page of Venusaur and end at the page of Hoopa. :It's not that we forgot, it's that those were all the files that were available to us. I know what you mean, but we do not have the proper hardware to get the missing sprites from, which is why we need the help of users who do have a video capturer.
