:The reason direct rips are preferred is because sprites might differ in color between even games of the same generation (witness {{p|Wartortle}}).  Recolors tend to duplicate color schemes from another game in the same generation, which may lead to inaccurate coloration if done incorrectly.  --[[User:Shiningpikablu252|Shiningpikablu252]] 15:54, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
