Uploading image

Hi, I'm trying to upload an image but it's telling me I don't have permission to create a new page. The image I'm trying to upload is a formula to replace the formula currently on a page (I've made the formula a bit clearer). What do I do? Thanks - unsigned comment from Albigatin (talkcontribs)

You have to be autoconfirmed in order to upload images. You can edit pages such as fixing spelling mistakes and adding in missing summaries. In the future, it would be best to ask me on my current talk page instead of the ones I archived. Pattyman (talk) 23:11, 21 April 2014 (UTC)

anipng over 2MB

I am trying to get an animation of the thunderstorm in BW (from Tornadus/Thundurus roaming), but I can't get anything useful into a file under even 3 MB - fully optimized - even at 30 fps due to the high detail. Is it ok to have that large a file size? I know I would have to have you or someone other staff upload it. Jdthebud (talk) 06:19, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

I don't think I'll be able to upload that image (sorry), as I tried uploading other images over 2 MB but they didn't work. You can ask a Senior Administrator or higher if they could do it. Pattyman (talk) 23:50, 26 April 2014 (UTC)

Color correction

I uploaded an English version of File:Pokéwalker battling.png, exactly as I found it here (image) (except for trimming it and making it a png). That image had a gray tint, not unlike the Pokewalker's screen. Abcboy is expressing concern about the battle image's colors matching the other image on the Pokewalker page, which likely came from here, where the images do indeed use pure black and white. If you ask me, though, that's a fairly trivial concern (heck, they'll still be in different languages either way...). As something of a purist, I just don't think the image should be essentially altered from how it was found. My problem is, I don't know if the Archives have any rules or anything about this. So I bring the question to staff: is the whitened image OK? Tiddlywinks (talk) 04:14, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

To me, it isn't much of a big deal with the gray tints on the Pokéwalker screen images, its not like they're blurry or anything. However, since a majority of the English version ones have the grayish background, it should be kept that way, and the Japanese ones keep the white background. The Archives do have a rule regarding drawing on images, as they should be left the way it is instead of drawing on them. Pattyman (talk) 04:41, 28 April 2014 (UTC)
Just an addendum, was trying to keep it consistent not only with that image, but also with images like Category:Pokéwalker route images and File:Pokéwalker Settings.png. But I understand, the images should be kept the same as when they came from the official source. --Abcboy (talk) 22:19, 28 April 2014 (UTC)

Friendly reminder

Hey Pattyman, just a friendly reminder that your edit here was unnecessary. There's no space between Summary and Licensing. ht14 03:24, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

Odd that the space got there, I only removed the period since the whole summary was just a caption instead of an actual sentence. The spaces must be a typing glitch or something (I used a mobile device). But thanks for the reminder though. Pattyman (talk) 04:19, 4 May 2014 (UTC)

You're welcome and I'm not saying the episodes are wrong. They're right but I removed it because the moves was used recently in a few episodes. ----JasonL (talk) 16:38, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

Lysandre's Mega Ring

The image is much larger than 400×240px, how is it unsatisfactory? Drake Clawfang (talk) 18:53, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

The game images are supposed to follow their game dimensions. In the case with the Mega Ring image, it has to be 400×240px since all of the Generation VI images are like that unless you're making the full maps of the games. Pattyman (talk) 20:39, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Alrighty then, I can size it down and reupload. Thanks. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:41, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
No problem. :) Pattyman (talk) 20:42, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Strictly speaking it's now 427x240, If that's still oversized I can look for different footage. Drake Clawfang (talk) 20:43, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
It's a bit oversized. Pattyman (talk) 21:05, 5 August 2014 (UTC)
Third time's the charm. :) Drake Clawfang (talk) 21:15, 5 August 2014 (UTC)

Topps Category

Would it be okay for me to create a sub-category of Collectible cards for Topps cards? Perhaps called "Topps Pokémon Trading Cards"? And if so, do you think I should also create sub-categories for each of the Topps series? There's generally around a hundred cards in a series. Tiddlywinks (talk) 03:07, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

To be honest, I'm not sure if it's necessary to do so. Maybe, an admin that's a higher-rank than me will know since they're experienced with those types of categories. Pattyman (talk) 23:04, 3 September 2014 (UTC)
OK. I figured later it would probably have been better to just put the question on the Collectible cards category's talk page, so I'll do that now and see what anyone else thinks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:21, 3 September 2014 (UTC)

M17 images

Hi, I've seen you've been uploading M17 images. I have some requests. Would you be able to upload images of Allearth Forest, Diamond Domain, Avugnon Town (the town in the beginning, where Ash battles Astrid) and Orseille City (the city later in the movie)? These are pretty much the most needed images right now. Personally I also hope you could upload an image of Clemont's invention in the movie (the ladder Ash uses in the mall). If so, please name it "Clemontic Gear Super Stretch Ladder.png". Thanks in advance, although my apologies if I'm asking too much or if my request is not possible. Blazingfist (talk) 22:39, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Got them. Some of them have the logo on there as it was hard to remove. Pattyman (talk) 23:56, 15 November 2014 (UTC)

Location artwork

I'm not entirely familiar with the policies for manga location artwork, but do you think you can also remove the boxes for the Mossdeep Space Center for instance, especially since the background is white anyway? Thanks in advance~! ht14 02:42, 5 February 2015 (UTC)

I only add the {{Location}} template for actual places such as the Mossdeep Space Center and ones with articles on Bulbapedia. As for the image, I was originally going to crop off the boxes but I found the image to look bad that way IMO. While removing the boxes, did you also want me to make the image transparent as the background would be white and I would upload that version in one shot? Pattyman (talk) 03:07, 5 February 2015 (UTC)
Hmm... I was initially thinking it should be just simply trimmed since it doesn't get in the way of the image, but it's your call. ht14 03:25, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
I just went ahead and trimmed it without making it transparent. Pattyman (talk) 03:33, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

New Electro Ball Picture

How about this one? season15_ep20_ss4.jpg I know the first one is small and the one I show you here is from Unova but this is what I could find--JasonL (talk) 01:11, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

The one we have now is fine. Pattyman (talk) 01:18, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Okay, then. I was hoping to add a new picture because while traveling through Kalos, Pikachu use a different pose.--JasonL (talk) 01:52, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Correction for BW013 Who's That Pokémon

Original version
Corrected home video version
I'm not autoconfirmed so I can't replace it. Technickal (talk) 13:58, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Fixed. The other one can be uploaded as an error image. Pattyman (talk) 15:49, 19 April 2015 (UTC)

Er

I see I don't have the ability to upload images that I want to use at the Pokémon Rumble Blast article. How can I get this? I have saved an image I posted myself elsewhere, from my own game, and wish to include it at the article as it's a picture of one of the buildings in the courtyard. Obviously I've proven I'm a reliable editor over there and am trying to help the article with describing images, but need the image uploading permission here. CycloneGU (talk) 05:25, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

Can you post the link here and I could see what I could do about it. Pattyman (talk) 16:43, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
The link to the Miiverse post? That's all I can offer you right now since it would be pointless for me to upload the saved file to another site never to be used again there. The Miiverse post is here, though if preferred, I can try to get a version without another Mii in the picture; that said, you have no idea how difficult that was when getting the Move Tutor (it took me about ten minutes pushing them out of the way over and over).
I can also attempt to get the other buildings, or even just snap pictures without the text.
You can see my dilemma here, though; I wouldn't know where to start to get autoconfirmed over here since the To Do list generally says upload things, and I can't upload things. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 17:52, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
I uploaded them both as png files. The links you gave me were fine. As for being autoconfirmed, you can edit the pages to add/remove words or stuff which is a start. There is also other stuff on the to do list that doesn't involve uploading images that you could do for the time being. Pattyman (talk) 18:20, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Thanks! Though my other comment still have a point here: I'm thinking of taking screenshots of the various map areas, and perhaps even stages, for the purposes of the various location articles (see Areas links on the article page and the ones still in my userspace). While I would expect autoconfirmed limits to be larger on the encyclopedia side, and respecting that it's kept secret (you can e-mail me if preferred; worst case scenario I can ZIP screenshots in there), is it really a large number of picture edits needed - like, over a hundred? I'm not as knowledgeable on a lot of the picture content like I am the encyclopedia side, only on what I want to add - and still have no idea where to start since, even from the To-do list, I'm not sure what kind of edits I'd have to make just to meet the requirement (what exactly is that project of move images that need to be fixed?). Not having autoconfirmed here will literally slow me down in what I'm trying to work on as it would be quicker to upload them myself and then immediately use them rather than have them sitting idle for 24 hours. That doesn't even start to account for other things like some template testing I plan to be doing, among other things.
So, basically, I'm going to start going through all of my Miiverse photos for things to add in places, and start snapping things I haven't made good pictures of yet. In just the areas. that's 3*3 + 4*4 + 4*5 + 7*6 = 9+16+20+42 = 87 pictures just for single shots of the various areas alone (I'll be trying to include some two or three star bosses in them) and another 3+4+4+7 = 18 images for the "Balloon Roulette" shots; I figure by the time I put all of those in, that alone would get me past the autoconfirmed status. Of course, that's just a guess. CycloneGU (talk) 22:15, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
The amount of picture edits is technically a secret, but at least you're helping which is most important. Pattyman (talk) 23:24, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, I know it's technically a secret. That's why I was trying to guess. LOL
Been posting more on Miiverse, so going to go through my "Yeah!" activity (which is all but a select few LOL) and see what I can grab. I know I posted area pictures for the last three adventures already, and all on the 8 hour reinflation Balloons. Posted some in-stage pictures and a boss fight with Keldeo, too! Maybe I should create a list of everything I want to grab and remove them when I get them added to pages. The only thing I have to figure out is a good way to combine the images (on the right side no less) with the tables of Pokémon on each page. CycloneGU (talk) 00:25, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Okay. Thanks for letting me know. Pattyman (talk) 00:49, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Images to Upload

(Now you'll see why I just offered to do it all myself. LOL)

So I checked my Miiverse for useful stuff. I'll first list the Balloon areas (you know, the roulette wheel section).

Next up, a few stages and boss battles (only a few; I'm not blowing Diamonds just to inflate the Balloons):

And miscellaneous pictures that may or may not be useful:

  • Lucario's scared, but other Legendaries have done this as well; might be worth noting that sometimes they try to get away from you due to possible AI glitches (I would not use this for a boss battle image as it seems to be more of a glitch, and I have pictures of other Pokémon doing the same thing)
  • Epic - in other words, shows a Pokémon (Shieldon) with several very high traits, and the massive coins they create (for instance, Gusty+ and Lucky++, which this one has); not sure how to use it, but something to consider and more an encyclopedia discussion than an image one
  • Sparkles; this can also serve as a Sandslash boss battle unless we want it without sparkles

I haven't decided entirely on the treatment of the stage pictures; it would be nice to just get in-stage images of every single stage to either put in their sections - with the table - or otherwise group at the end of the page (an image gallery, if you will); boss battles can be part of that image gallery, and added as someone contributes the images needed, or maybe we want to show them off on Pokémon pages in some cases. I dunno. Of course, stage pictures would be most useful with Pokémon unique to the stage in question; picking randomly from my list, Tricky Factory would be a perfect place to show off a Pichu, which can only appear there. I plan to get more boss battles, myself, with more of a focus on Back and Special areas, but stage images can be any of the three or four versions.

Let me know when any of these are ready, I'll start editing descriptions in them and hopefully I can get that autoconfirmed for the next batch. CycloneGU (talk) 06:39, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Any chance I can add the summaries? Might help me get autoconfirmed quicker. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 18:42, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
I left out some of the stuff on the summaries on purpose so you could add them. Some of the Pokémon were unidentified so I didn't bother with them. The miscellaneous pictures, I'm not too sure where what location it took place. Pattyman (talk) 19:07, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
What do you mean with "Some of the Pokémon were unidentified so I didn't bother with them"? In the description linking to each (above), I identified the Pokémon if it was a boss battle, so unless you're referring to something else, I'm confused. The only one I didn't identify above was Exeggutor. I can try to provide any details for anything missing - or I can suggest filenames - for others that might need it for file naming purposes.
I also don't see Distortion Land, Plasma Tundra, or Legend Terrain yet. Thanks! CycloneGU (talk) 19:13, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
The back middle Pokémon in the Dark Land image and in Distortion Land image were the ones I couldn't tell hence why I called them unidentified. The other Pokémon, I was fine with. Pattyman (talk) 19:23, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Ah, no worries. I was planning to list the Pokémon in the captions at Bulbapedia, anyway (I left you a quick link to Origin Hideaway over there so you can see what I mean), and users seeing that can also then identify where the stages are if anyone should want to go that far. They do circle in-game, though, so the stage location on the screen is pretty much a moot point unless a user knows every boss of every stage. CycloneGU (talk) 19:26, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
Legend Terrain has one too with ones I couldn't tell. Pattyman (talk) 19:27, 29 April 2015 (UTC)
I know them, that's what counts here since I snapped the picture. LOL From 12 o'clock, they're Gallade (probably the iffy one, the text hides them when they rotate around), Barbaracle, Shelgon (who is a pain to catch as it turns invincible periodically), Reuniclus, Dusclops, and Hawlucha. CycloneGU (talk) 19:33, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

[Outdent]

I'll go ahead and say let's do just the one boss battle and area screen for now. I'll raise a discussion about how to handle those kinds of images, and from that point, we can do more. Of course, if I've done enough edits, I can do more anyway once a policy is determined for using the screenshots; the two best options I think are thumbnails (which users can visit for full size) or an image gallery, but I can't see an image of the size of the area screen in every section. CycloneGU (talk) 19:37, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

I forgot to add; I'll grab more selection screens this evening from my Miiverse posts (or, if I see others post them, I might use one of them to save me a post since the only difference is bosses appearing). If I can't upload them yet, I'll post a new message here. CycloneGU (talk) 19:39, 29 April 2015 (UTC)

Haha, I guess the secret number isn't as large as I feared it might be. =D I just tried uploading Black Realm with success, so I should be good now for uploading the rest of the area shots and anything else I pull for pages. Thanks! CycloneGU (talk) 02:10, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

You're welcome. :) Pattyman (talk) 02:53, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Images related to Episodes

I have some pics regarding future episodes that i got from TV Tokyo site, but i am not able to, can you help me with it, i am here to contribute Upratik 12 (talk) 06:31, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Blazingfist just took care of it, but thanks for pointing it out. Pattyman (talk) 17:09, 30 April 2015 (UTC)

Delete Template

Since the delete templates on Bulbapedia and Archives are separate entities, how about rewording the one here? Right now, it says, "If this page obviously does not meet the criteria for deletion, or you intend to fix it, please remove this notice, but do not remove this notice from articles that you have created yourself." Better wording might be "from images that you have uploaded yourself". CycloneGU (talk) 23:09, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

It's a page so I believe that was why it was called an article. I still fixed it though. Pattyman (talk) 23:29, 1 May 2015 (UTC)

Sky Crest Range, not Ridge

Can you please move this? CycloneGU (talk) 20:22, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Moved. I'm guessing the link name provided on my talk page was a typo and the Miiverse post had the right spelling. LOL Pattyman (talk) 20:33, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Not only that, but the article was right as well (Range). I linked the image and noticed the difference, so quickly memoed since I apparently can't move images. Thanks! CycloneGU (talk) 20:36, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
You're welcome. Pattyman (talk) 20:39, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

Ugh. Now the image is refusing to create a thumbnail at Sky Crest Range. Purging does nothing. Can you see if it shows and fix it otherwise? I'm trying to avoid reuploading it. CycloneGU (talk) 22:34, 3 May 2015 (UTC)

The same applied to when I added an image of Shauna to her page and I can't get it to show either so there is nothing I could do. Pattyman (talk) 23:00, 3 May 2015 (UTC)
Must be broken. I tried a second image as well, same problem. Won't add others for the time being but will check my collection. I wish I had a capture card for the mini sprites on the lower screen... CycloneGU (talk) 00:08, 4 May 2015 (UTC)
So do we re-upload those broken images from yesterday? New ones are thumbnailing appropriately (see Poké Diamond Digger, which I even replaced when a non-text version was requested), but others are still not showing thumbnails. Or can they be repaired without reupload? CycloneGU (talk) 02:23, 5 May 2015 (UTC)
You don't have to reupload the images. You can perform a null edit on the pages the images aren't showing up. Pattyman (talk) 02:48, 5 May 2015 (UTC)

Serena's Braixen

To prevent a dispute over the infobox image in use, can you confirm if the naming convention bit is correct and, if it is, can you please rename the image in this edit to have that name? We could of course reupload it over the other, but renaming might be better so we don't have the same stray image and messed up histories. The filename can be corrected at the article once we have the renames completed.

This image] is the one that currently has the filename Serena Braixen.png. CycloneGU (talk) 16:00, 4 June 2015 (UTC)

The naming convention regarding the file name being called Serena Braixen.png is correct. It isn't necessary for the name changes to happen, the image change to appear in the server takes time. Pattyman (talk) 20:02, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
You're not following. See here. The file shown in the image, and at that filename, does not conform to the standard set forth in every other owned Pokémon article. The image that I referred to needs to go to that filename, or another showing just the Pokémon without Serena. That is why I suggested moving the one with Serena to another name and moving the new one into place. The image is not at that location yet. CycloneGU (talk) 22:04, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Oh, so that's what you were talking about. I got confused. I do have the ability to move files but once I do so, I can't move the other one into the former file name since the redirect is in the way. Pattyman (talk) 22:15, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Oh, so you can't move without a redirect as a Jr. Admin.? I guess they differ between Archives and the Bulba wikis. Can you find someone who can do that so that the upload credit is retained? I'd just upload the image over it myself, but that same image being replaced can go in the article elsewhere, which I did, but it doesn't belong in the infobox no matter what the filename or policy is. So it needs correcting ASAP. CycloneGU (talk) 22:19, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Anyone in the full Administrator level or above can help you. Chosen or ht14 are ideal users to go to get the problem solved. Pattyman (talk) 22:26, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Noticed you found a different image for the infobox and used that instead. That works. LOL I'll see whether the other image (the one that was attempted edited in before) can just be placed in the article. CycloneGU (talk) 00:41, 5 June 2015 (UTC)
Glad that everyone's happy and the problem is officially solved. Pattyman (talk) 03:54, 5 June 2015 (UTC)

Shuffle Sprites

Finally got permission to use these from the guy who ripped them. =)

So I'm uploading a few to test in a table and with a template I'm creating. I've uploaded "Test000" right now.

While it will be used, I'm using temporary filenames. Can you help make sure all the categorization and everything is good so I can apply it to the other test ones (three for the starters) to be uploaded later? I'll also be looking to have them later moved once everything's ready to use in mainspace. CycloneGU (talk) 20:43, 11 June 2015 (UTC)

Will do. Pattyman (talk) 18:09, 12 June 2015 (UTC)
I see no changes. Does that mean it's good? Was gone much of today and only did 70 or 80 today (to end of Hoenn, so 386 and all Megas for them done), so I'm getting close to uploading all of them anyway. The concern is picking the right filenames, but now I've learned BT and Shuffle do differ, so Shuffle will be in the names. That solves that problem! CycloneGU (talk) 02:28, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Checked and they looked good. Pattyman (talk) 05:06, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Fair enough! I was debating adding a MissingNo. category for the question mark, but will add the Pokémon category for each later upload. No need to do it yet, but eventually might not hurt to move the question mark to whatever name I give the images when I upload them (likely "000Shuffle" at this point, but that may change). Can remove it from this discussion, so I've done that to prevent it redlinking. CycloneGU (talk) 05:12, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Actually, that might be a bad convention. Those with forms would look weird. 201AShuffle, 384-MShuffle, etc. Maybe "Shuffle-" will lead as it seems more appropriate. CycloneGU (talk) 05:14, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Please use the filename format of "Shuffle###", and use the new summary template, {{Shuffle}}, for the file summary. Thank you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 06:09, 13 June 2015 (UTC)
Looks like Kogoro went ahead and created the template on the Archives side, so I uploaded Bulbasaur to aid any other things that might be tried out. Got up to Basculin and could continue to the end this evening, but depriving myself any further of sleep might be a bad idea. LOL Will finish the last 169 and start uploading from Ivysaur tomorrow. =D Also seems I don't need to add a category for each species as the template seems to do that, which is nice! (That was the other reason I already added Bulbasaur, to see what the categories look like. LOL) CycloneGU (talk) 07:12, 13 June 2015 (UTC)

Rahl

Can you keep an eye over here? Rahl is trying to upload images, and I tried to leave something for him to fix to help him towards getting the uploading permissions over here (and learn from as he was fixing), but apparently my method wasn't...well, the right one, or something like that; I dunno, really. LOL I thought intentionally leaving a few image licensings to fix would help, but they already got fixed by Kogoro before Rahl got to them.

Rahl has apparently set up a dropbox and will be linking them on my page, most likely, so can you check in there if you're around before I get back? Not sure how many images he wants to upload, but giving him the chance to edit info on them himself would, I think, be a good learning tool. If I'm wrong...there must be another way. LOL CycloneGU (talk) 15:33, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

Sure will. There are some other stuff that Rahl could do in the Archives to-do list not related to uploading in the meantime. Pattyman (talk) 17:06, 29 June 2015 (UTC)
If you have ideas to give him, by all means go ahead and discuss that with him! I was just trying to help him learn how editing works over here. =) CycloneGU (talk) 22:02, 29 June 2015 (UTC)

My Pokémon Ranch Toys

Per User talk:Ching Yeung#Toys, is there a way to get these images reduced down to just the icon with a transparent background? A site I'm aware of does just that, but it charges money to download the results. Obviously I don't wish to use that, but not sure if paint.net does this properly.

If it's possible to do, can you please do that and upload the new versions over what I just uploaded? I asked not to use the images in the table yet, and that I'd get in touch with someone (obviously you, Abcboy is on vacation, hence why I stepped in, or I might ask him) to ask assistance with them. CycloneGU (talk) 02:09, 2 July 2015 (UTC)

You can use Photoshop to make them transparent. As you insisted, I'll get them transparent. Pattyman (talk) 04:56, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I hope I didn't sound like I was insisting on something, I just asked if you could do it. =) And yeah, I don't have PSP and am not in a position to spend $70 on it right now (CAD cost), so yeah, I think he would appreciate if you can do that. CycloneGU (talk) 04:59, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Nah, it didn't sound like you were insisting on something, the term came to mind. Pattyman (talk) 17:24, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
I'll wait for you to update the images so that I can utilize them in the applicable table at Bulbapedia. =) CycloneGU (talk) 17:40, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Just want to point out that I'm not on a computer most of the time. I have to usually resort to a mobile device. Pattyman (talk) 20:46, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Oh. Is there a better person to ask for assistance? Abcboy is of course gone until the 4th. CycloneGU (talk) 20:47, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Asking me was the right thing. I've been working on getting the images transparent. Pattyman (talk) 23:01, 2 July 2015 (UTC)
Awesome so far. I just see three more missing transparency (Poké Pendulum, Poké Rocket, and Snowman). CycloneGU (talk) 05:40, 3 July 2015 (UTC)

Question

Can you please tell me what's different about this image: http://archives.bulbagarden.net/wiki/File:Serena_Pancham_Showcase_Poke_Puff_Baking.png and the first one I put? I don't know why PlayerKing95 did this, so I was hoping you could since you've been here longer. Is the new one better quality? Because it looks the same to me so...Handmaiden 101 (talk) 00:13, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

It's a small change but the version Playerking95 uploaded did not have the tvo7 logo. Pattyman (talk) 00:34, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
OH! I see, I see. (phew) For a second there I thought it was a troll (because a user accused him/her of being one in his/her talk page) so thanks for the clear up! By the way, do you know where I can watch episodes without the logo? If not, thanks anyway!Handmaiden 101 (talk) 00:40, 6 July 2015 (UTC)
I'm used to users uploading newer versions of my images since many of them, I get from filb. Apparently, I don't know where you can watch the episodes without the logo. Pattyman (talk) 01:12, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Ranch Images

Ching Yeung can now upload his own images (I guess I found a good way to help someone get there this time LOL). In the category, there are going to be six more needing transparency eventually; Abcboy has already updated the latest one. Since it's known he'll be away from sometime tomorrow until the 13th, can you keep tabs if any new ones show up over the next week? They will of course be uploaded without my aid now, so I'll just help make sure the table's in good order at the final usage destination. =) CycloneGU (talk) 04:42, 6 July 2015 (UTC)

Will do. Pattyman (talk) 01:09, 7 July 2015 (UTC)

Tagging redirects

When tagging file redirects for deletion, please make sure to also convert the image inclusion into a text link. Since adding the deletion tag already causes the redirect to stop functioning, it's not necessary for the full-size file to be loaded when someone goes to delete the redirect. Keep up the good work! - Kogoro - Talk to me - 18:52, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Thank you. :) Tried out on the file redirect of Zachary Evans for practice. Pattyman (talk) 19:04, 9 July 2015 (UTC)
Perfectly done. Definitely makes it much easier to load the redirect and quickly delete it. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:08, 9 July 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Ranch Screenshots

Hi Pattyman, I've uploaded a few more screenshots. Only one left to go! Thanks for your help. Ching Yeung (talk) 03:47, 10 July 2015 (UTC)

The ones you recently uploaded past the Bonfire one, I can handle them. Pattyman (talk) 04:12, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Expect them to be up by tomorrow afternoon, if I get to my computer. Pattyman (talk) 04:39, 10 July 2015 (UTC)
Did you miss Pokémon Bonfire?
And for Ching, checking the category, I notice two more missing, not one; both the Poké Microphone and the Pokémon Pallet are missing. CycloneGU (talk) 19:19, 11 July 2015 (UTC)
I left out the Bonfire one on purpose since I had trouble making it transparent because of the green showing in the fire itself. Pattyman (talk) 00:41, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Yep, I've uploaded Microphone, but Pallet requires at least 500 Pokémon in the Ranch; that means I have to wait for 227 more days before I can get it. Ching Yeung (talk) 03:08, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Can you move time forward and have the game pick it up by reopening it every "day", or does ther game detect this? You can always reset the time afterwards. CycloneGU (talk) 03:14, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Also Pattyman, I'm sure there must be a weay to get the surrounding greenery and not get inside the image. I'll experiment. CycloneGU (talk) 03:15, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
I tried it before; the game detected it and warned that it would cause problems. Ching Yeung (talk) 03:25, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
Pattyman, I made a Bonfire attempt. See this. I used an online editor that makes guesses based on where you claim the intended image to be, and basically did a Printscreen instead of downloading the result, so it might work (or might not). We might have to take some liberties with this particular item because it might be impossible to make it properly transparent. Can you compare this with your attempts and see if you can fine-tune a final result? CycloneGU (talk) 05:33, 12 July 2015 (UTC)
I tried again and it turns out I was able to get it transparent. Pattyman (talk) 20:55, 12 July 2015 (UTC)

Test Template

Seems to work if your userpage here was replaced with the following:

{{User:CycloneGU/Template:Softredirect|bp:User:Pattyman}}

Obviously, if moved, the template text will be standard. Not my call, and doesn't affect me, just proposing this for Kogoro's soft redirect preference. I tend to agree the immediate leaving of the site when trying to click the user page can be more negative if someone doesn't pick up on it. CycloneGU (talk) 16:45, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

It looks good but it's not giving me the option (i.e. yes or no options) on if I want to stay on my Archives user page or proceed to Bulbapedia. Kogoro may have an idea on the rest of the template. At least you got the basics down. Pattyman (talk) 16:59, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Clicking the arrow takes the user to the Bulbapedia page (notice I used the "bp" in the link, not using it keeps someone at Archives). Not clicking the arrow and clicking anywhere else stays at Archives. Perhaps "Click here to go back to the previous page" might be useful. CycloneGU (talk) 17:02, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
I brought it up since not everyone would have known about clicking on the arrow. Pattyman (talk) 17:07, 15 July 2015 (UTC)
Indeed. I only found it through experimentation on the original template, myself. CycloneGU (talk) 17:37, 15 July 2015 (UTC)

DW Hoopa images request

Hello, I managed to find the Dream World-style artworks of both Hoopa forms from the Pokemon Global Link website and have the cropped images of them. The problem is that Iam unable to upload anything at the moment as Iam not autoconfirmed yet. Im sorry if this sounds like Im requesting favors on your busy schedule, but can you assist me on uploading the Hoopa images in this pokemon's image section of the archives and the pokemon dream world art gallery? I really wish I could do this on my own, but it seems that I have no power here to overcome my personal problem.

Here is the image links below: https://www.dropbox.com/s/kdw1m3soqj4hqk7/Hoopa-C.png?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/zywgibce7mvnk7y/Hoopa-U.png?dl=0 --Antlionerd (talk) 19:36, 24 July 2015 (UTC)

Uploaded both of them. Pattyman (talk) 00:40, 25 July 2015 (UTC)

Trainer manga requests

Hey Pattyman, do you mind getting images of a few Trainers that were present in the Pokémon Adventures manga? There is the Burglar, Psychic, and Tamer seen in PS066 (vol. 6) and the Kimono Girl and Firebreather in PS034 (vol. 3). PS319 (vol. 28) for the Gentleman, Poké Maniac, Ruin Maniac, Bug Catcher, and Pokémon Breeder would be a nice bonus too =P I don't think it's necessary to have a "Pokémon" section - see what I did on the Ace Trainer page for reference.

As far as virtual Trainers go, I'm not sure how far we want to go with this (I'm thinking Emerald arc right now), but I don't think it's completely necessary.

Feel free to let me know if you have any questions. Thanks in advance!! ht14 03:00, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for being so awesome!! =P ht14 23:01, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Adventures Italian covers

Hi! I just noticed you changed the name of this file to the current one. So, since I'm the one who usually upload those covers and since I have always used the naming "Pokémon Nero e Bianco manga vol n", I wanted to know how I should name the files I upload, because I think there should be a naming rule to follow for each file. --CiaobyDany (talk) 14:16, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

The naming convention regarding the cover pages is found here. It officially went into effect in April of last year. Pattyman (talk) 18:18, 21 September 2015 (UTC)

Oh, I see, the fact is I began uploading those covers last year, so that naming convention was not in effect yet. Could you please move all other covers to the right place then? I'll remember to use the right naming when I'll upload the next one in October. (I also wanted to point out that the mobile version didn't let me save this edit, so I had to change back to desktop version, even though I'm quite sure you're not the one I should notice this to...) --CiaobyDany (talk) 11:20, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

Generation I official artwork

User:Pokeant/Artwork Sandbox
Category talk:Ken Sugimori Pokémon artwork (RGB artwork heading)

Hello, could you have a look at these pages please? A number of us think that most of the Gen I Sugimori artwork could do with having their filenames changed to improve accuracy and prevent confusion. Would you be able to change them?

I'm also thinking about moving the "Art from Red/Green or TCG???" files to the "Art from Red and Blue" category instead of the "Art from Red and Green" category. Do you think this would be a good idea? --Purpleflamecyndaquil (talk) 14:27, 29 October 2015 (UTC)

The first part sounds good in my opinion but I can't overwrite files that already exist on the Archives unless they were deleted (admins with a higher rank than me could do that) but you could swap them by reuploading them but that would require approval from the Editorial Board since they are widespread changes. The Art from Red and Green category exists because the Red an Green games came out first so I don't think it should be moved. Pattyman (talk) 00:46, 30 October 2015 (UTC)

Pokémon Picross Trailer

Can you check that I gave a proper labeling to it? I am going to use it on the page I'm setting up for Pokémon Picross that is newly coming out in December (announced today), and is unrelated to the 1999 title. CycloneGU (talk) 04:30, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

The licensing is fine but it was missing the categories (I'm aware about the problem you had though with the upload form) but ht14 took care of it. Pattyman (talk) 17:39, 13 November 2015 (UTC)

Samurott's broken Seamitars

A tumblr page has images of the pokemon adventures manga showing that Samurott's Seamitars are capable of breaking like it's pre evo's Scalchops. http://kanyuu90.tumblr.com/tagged/Samurott

I cropped the image of what I needed, and need them to be posted in the article about the Oshawott line's shell weapons.

I'm still not autoconfirmed to post files at the moment.

Here is two files of the regular image size and another that I enlarged. https://www.dropbox.com/s/ik6zj49vo8v82c6/Cedric%20Juniper%20Samurott%20broken%20Seamitar%20Regular.png?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/cfpa34f74igrte3/Cedric%20Juniper%20Samurott%20broken%20Seamitar%20Large.png?dl=0 --Antlionerd (talk) 17:25, 15 November 2015 (UTC)

Images that need moving

Good job on moving the images of SS034 and uploading better versions of them! There are still other anime images that have needed a move for a long time though. These are:

- Clemontic Gear XY085.png
- Clemontic Gear XY087.png
- Clemontic Gear XY088.png
- The Lightning-fast Hero! Super Pikachu!!.png
- Hoopa's Appear Plan 5.png

Perhaps you already took notice of them and this message is unnecessary, but I'd thought I'd point you on them. You could also wait on moving the (misnamed) Hoopa's Appear Plan shot since they're being dubbed starting this Friday and the filenames could be moved to the dub titles. I'll leave that up to the staff though. Blazingfist (talk) 18:19, 9 December 2015 (UTC)

Thanks for pointing them out, including the other ones that needed to be moved. I took care of the images you requested on the talk page except for the Hoopa's Appear Plan one since pokemon.com is airing them soon. On another note, the dub names revealed in the Canadian airings or outside the US, I usually hold off on moving them until the episode aired in the US since there have been many instances of the names being played by ear lately. Pattyman (talk) 18:48, 9 December 2015 (UTC)
There are two more images you can move. The first one is Pikachu Palace to its dub name, Pikachu Manor. The second is Mrs. Shellby, which I moved to Kimie because that's her actual Japanese, non-conjectural name. So you can move that image to that name. Thanks in advance! Blazingfist (talk) 17:21, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
Got them. Pattyman (talk) 18:05, 11 December 2015 (UTC)
The Hoopa's Appear Plan!! are dubbed (called Hoopa’s Surprise Ring Adventures according to pokemon.com) so I was able to move the last one to its proper name. Pattyman (talk) 19:55, 11 December 2015 (UTC)

Hey, Listen!

Would you mind checking your messages on the BMGf, please? Thank you. Masatoshi talk 01:01, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Read them. Thanks for letting me know. Pattyman (talk) 01:08, 26 January 2016 (UTC)

Help

I know Clemont's Chespin's Tackle is oversized and has a black thing/logo but can you help improve this picture? I tried to improve but having trouble. Sorry about how it's big by the way. I thought it be better, not that bigger.--JasonL (talk) 22:04, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

It appears that Mikuri took care of it. Thanks for asking though. Pattyman (talk) 23:46, 2 February 2016 (UTC)

Renaming PokeTV images

Instead of naming the images of PokeTV like they are done now, wouldn't it be better if they were named with a more consistent system?

Currently, the images are named according to the following system:

  • For the program title card, PokeTV <program> Program.png
  • For featuring, PokeTV <featured thing>.png
  • For extra scenes, PokeTV extra scene<number>.png.

They could be named systematically, as:

  • PokeTV Program <program name>.png for the program title card
  • PokeTV <epicode>.png for the featured thing
  • PokeTV extra scene <epicode>.png for the extra scene.

This system of naming the images will be better in my opinion, as they can be found according to the episode code, not according to the featured thing. New files would follow this naming system while existing files would have to be renamed. What are your thoughts??? signed comment from PikaTepig999 08:51, 5 February 2016 (UTC)

The new system sounds good. Pattyman (talk) 18:26, 6 February 2016 (UTC)
So will the images be renamed? signed comment from PikaTepig999 12:00, 8 February 2016 (UTC)
They will. Pattyman (talk) 18:54, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
On second thought, I am waiting until the new season gets dubbed since Poké TV might be a different name and the programs might get different names too. Pattyman (talk) 18:56, 9 February 2016 (UTC)
Will the PokeTV segment be dubbed? Other segments like Prof Oak's lecture were not dubbed. signed comment from PikaTepig999 07:34, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
I don't know yet. Pattyman (talk) 21:34, 10 February 2016 (UTC)
Well you said it would be getting a different dub name so I thought it was revealed somewhere that it was gonna get dubbed. signed comment from PikaTepig999 12:42, 11 February 2016 (UTC)
He said the Poké TV segment might get dubbed. No 100% confirmation. - PokémonGamer 18:15, 11 February 2016 (UTC)

The dub of the season has now aired, and it doesn't look like the Poke TV segment is getting dubbed. So what happens to the images re-naming task now? signed comment from PikaTepig999 12:06, 21 February 2016 (UTC)

It is going to be in effect. Pattyman (talk) 04:36, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
I added the é in PokéTV by the way. Pattyman (talk) 04:52, 22 February 2016 (UTC)

A vandal detected!

As you are already well aware, user GenoWhirl made multiple inappropriate edits on your talk page. He has also uploaded extremely inappropriate versions of File:XY106.png, clogging the upload history in the process. Can you please do anything to stop him, as he doesn't seem to mind the inappropriateness of his actions? --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 21:04, 12 February 2016 (UTC)

Unfortunately, I can't do anything about it (save for reverting the edits). The user is just wasting his time with the inappropriate edits as he is doing it for attention. An admin with a higher rank than me can handle the block. Pattyman (talk) 21:09, 12 February 2016 (UTC)
