Hi
Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --—darklordtrom 03:27, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'm new here, sorry.
I just wanted to help out by submitting missing sprites, but I'm kind of confused about what I'm supposed to do or how to make the sprite appear on the Pokémon's page. So how do you do those things? And also, how do you reply to people (yes, I admit it, I'm a noob)? I can't seem to find a way to, so I just made a new section... Thank you. - unsigned comment from Chuck67322 (talk • contribs)
- Click the edit link beside my section title. Then write a colon to indent it. More colons mean more indent. The sprites will update automatically. They are hardwired into the page. If you look at what I did here and look at the guide I linked you above, you should figure this out in no time. (Oh, and write ~~~~ after any talk page comment you leave. It'll sign your name automatically). —darklordtrom 03:42, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Wait, so what exactly am I supposed to do? Those pages don't make any sense to me...
- Can you show me of a completed upload page for a sprite for, let's say, Gligar?
- Thanks again Chuck67322 03:51, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- If you want to upload Crystal sprites, make sure they look like this page. Write {{gamesprite|natdexnumber|Pokémonname|all|Crystal}} in the blue summary box, and select the appropriate licence. It's fairly straightforward. Just fill in all the current boxes. :D —darklordtrom 04:05, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'll try uploading a shiny pineco crystal sprite. Tell me if it's correct.
- Edit: It's not working...help. - unsigned comment from Chuck67322 (talk • contribs)
- Not bad. It's unfortunate that you're jumping in with this while we're in the middle of an update. Some of the sprites you see may be wrong; however, the Pineco sprites are now good examples. Well done. —darklordtrom 04:29, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think I'll stop for now. I wish I could just get it so it actually APPEARS on the page, but whatever... Chuck67322 04:34, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- The server will update that itself. It's an automatic thing, provided the filenames are right (which they are). —darklordtrom 04:36, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, so it is correct? cool :)
- Edit: Nothing's happening...
- It still says "File:Spr 2c 204 s.gif" Chuck67322 20:03, 28 July 2009 (UTC)

- If it's a shiny sprite, use
|shiny|
instead of|all|
. —darklordtrom 20:48, 28 July 2009 (UTC)- But when I uploaded a shiny Ninetales sprite for Platinum, I wrote
|all|
, but it still came out correctly. - unsigned comment from Chuck67322 (talk • contribs)- Not really. By putting |shiny|, you are categorizing the sprite as a shiny sprite. It doesn't break anything, but makes it less messy. —darklordtrom 20:59, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Too make things even more complicated, there's |male|, |female|, |shiny male|, and |shiny female|. I trust you can work out what to use, and when. —darklordtrom 21:28, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Oh great. And I was just uploading zubat and golbat sprites. :( Chuck67322 21:31, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Umm, how do you upload backsprites? Chuck67322 02:04, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- A little trickier. A different template: {{backsprite|106|Hitmonlee|all|II}}...for example. Maverick Nate 02:37, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- Too late. I already uploaded a Seaking backsprite...but I can use that template next time. Chuck67322 02:40, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- I'll fix it Maverick Nate 02:50, 29 July 2009 (UTC)
- I accidently uploaded a shiny Psyduck sprite instead of the regular sprite. How do you delete it? Chuck67322 18:20, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Write {{delete}} on the page. This will alert administrators to it. Regular users can't delete things, for obvious reasons. —darklordtrom 21:21, 4 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for fixing it. I'll upload the correct sprite.
- Edit: Oh wait, Maverick deleted it... Chuck67322 21:23, 4 August 2009 (UTC)

Sprites
no need to put the Category:Pokémon name...just the gamesprite template. Maverick Nate 23:06, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
- Oh. Now I know. Chuck67322 23:09, 28 July 2009 (UTC)
Sir
I believe you've done an epic fail. Game sprites are supposed to face toward the LEFT of the screen, not the right. TTEchidna 02:10, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Also, the re-upload summary will not change the summary on the file page. You need to edit it directly for that change to happen. - Kogoro | Talk to me - 02:17, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry.
- I admit I'm an epic failer. I'm new here.
- But the problem is, most of the sprites I have are facing right and I don't know how to make them face left. I have Photoshop and Flash and everything, so if you could tell me how I'll be happy to fix them.
- @Kogoro: That was one time, I believe. Chuck67322 20:04, 10 August 2009 (UTC)
