Game screenshots
Could you please upload game screenshots as .pngs, not .jpgs? Chocolate 23:29, 23 December 2008 (UTC)
- Which image are you talking about? The ones from XD?--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 13:02, 24 December 2008 (UTC)
- Why upload XD screenshots as .png, especially if they automatically are saved as .jpg. That makes no sense whatsoever, chocolate. .png makes sense with GB(A) or DS screenshots and sprites, but not with console game screenshots, unless they were taken directly and losslessly, but most images are from captures of the TV-out signals of the consoles and therefore have suffered some loss already, jpg won't hurt that much more and if a program already saved it in jpg, it makes no sense to convert that jpg to png. It only produces files with unnecessary high file sizes of pictures that are still full of JPG artifacts. --Nyoo 08:08, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Crystal Sprites
So far, because of the sprite template on the Pokémon Species articles, all crystal sprites must be gifs. What you told Pokelova was incorrect and misleading. As archive leader of the times, I decided to step in here, but don't let this happen again, please. ;) Maverick Nate 04:00, 10 January 2009 (UTC)
Cards
Please make sure they are straight. And use the appropriate categories please. Maverick Nate 23:37, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I just found some card scans from a year ago and decided to post them. I'm not really a card person, but I though why not. Also, there are some cards that are even more slanted.--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 19:01, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- I know, but that isn't an excuse. But thanks for the cards. I hope you can get some more. ;) Maverick Nate 19:42, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- I know that's not an excuse, either. And by the way, I'm done with my evil scanner.--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 20:13, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- Okay. But, scans from your personal collection are what we need, we don't need problems with other sites because people were stealing. Also, the categories are just the set name, with the three digit card number in the next info field, so a sadstorm cxard would be[[Category:EX Sandstorm|010]]. - There is a warning template on the wiki for this situation. It's called, Template:Toomanypersonal, and is an easier way to deal with it. The thing is, I already deleted one hundred personal images for this user, I must have missed those ones. Maverick Nate 20:38, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Deletion of Pokémon Center nighttime photo
What the heck was that about?! Don't just delete photos that are in news articles. Would you please explain more preciseley what the reason for the deletion was? The photo had a watermark from a Japanese news site - so what? If you find a version without a watermark, feel free to upload a new version but don't just delete things with cryptic reasons. --Nyoo 21:59, 5 February 2009 (UTC)
I have found and uploaded another version of the photo from a different news website, something you could have done instead of just promptly deleting a file that is actually in use in an article. I still don't know your exact reasoning for this - watermarked images are to be avoided, they're not forbidden. As long as there is no other option, a watermarked image should be fine though. So please refrain from such not well-thought-out actions in the future. --Nyoo 00:42, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- Think of this: if the person that watermarked it found it here, then we will be in a bunch of trouble.--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 02:26, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
- We'd only get in trouble if the Pokémon Company or so would decide to make us trouble - that's why we declare it as fair use (and we don't upload hi-res pictures to make sure it stays a fair claim). The news site doesn't own the rights on the image, they just put their watermarks on there so it can be seen where other sites get it from as not everyone receives press releases from Nintendo and the Pokémon Company in Japan. They can't really do anything in terms of copyrights if someone else uses the images from their news/press release reports and those sites are so big and well-known, it won't really hurt them either, they actually benefit as most other sites also give credit, and if they don't, it doesn't hurt them much. YOU have no right or good reason to delete images just because they have some kind of watermark. (See manual of style) We don't have a rule against watermarked images and if we did, we'd have to go and delete a good number of other pictures in the archives. The next time, provide a more precise reason for a deletion candidate and don't just go and delete it right after you added the {{delete}} tag. Also, you didn't even care if the image was still used in an article. --Nyoo 08:00, 6 February 2009 (UTC)
Redirects
Image redirects will not work. Duplicates have to be deleted. Maverick Nate 20:11, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Also, don't blank pages ever. There is a delete tag for a reason. Maverick Nate 20:12, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't have the admin privileges like you do here on the Archives. I wish I did, though... {goes into dream sequence}--Mew a.k.a. Prmatt11 19:35, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
- That's why we have the delete tag. Maverick Nate 19:59, 13 February 2009 (UTC)
