Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, TehPerson!
Bulbagarden Archives bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements. Please see the upload form and/or manual of style before you upload a new image.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload. There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit.
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are no longer allowed. Any personal images found will be deleted on sight.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Animated PNG's

Please upload animated PNG's with correct speed and please add "anipng" to its summary--Gaspershut (talk) 02:26, 5 August 2012 (UTC)

Also, remember that some Pokémon received new animation in the sequels, like Oshawott. Marked +-+-+ (talk) 11:41, 8 August 2012 (UTC)

XY and ORAS artwork

Hello there, I have noticed that you have been uploading many pieces of artwork from XY and ORAS. Might you let us know how you are obtaining these artwork images, especially the ones from ORAS? Thank you. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 18:56, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Project Pokemon recently datamined the demo and posted the dump. These images are pretty much all over the web now. https://imgur.com/a/Rjd5E TehPerson (talk) 19:01, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
Information from the demo datamining is not permitted on Bulbapedia or the Bulbagarden Archives. The images will be deleted. - Kogoro - Talk to me - 19:02, 26 October 2014 (UTC)
All right then. But at least you can keep the artworks that have been used in the demo, since Nintendo had already officially released them. TehPerson (talk) 19:07, 26 October 2014 (UTC)

Gabby and Ty

My apologies, I didn't know we already had it. Drake Clawfang (talk) 04:32, 5 December 2014 (UTC)

3D models

Why you don't make the 3D models like Gaspershut? miss the models of Brendan, May, Wally, Maxie, Archie, Steven and Zinnia? in 400x192 like Kalos models? --HoopsterJohn (talk) 17:35, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

Overworld models

Please stop uploading overworld models from XYORAS and SMUSUM. I have been working on getting them for over a year and have most of them ready, but have been waiting on certain things from staff before they are uploaded. Lady Ariel (talk) 02:30, 2 February 2018 (UTC)

Sprites for 3DS games

Just want to let you know the images for the 3DS games aren't supposed to be animated, since the full size for them is going to be way too large. Also one other thing too, not sure how you are getting the sprites but I have been planning on getting the full size images of them (I have just been busy with a lot of other stuff from the games). Viewing the models in Ohana or SPICA and getting images that way isn't the proper way of getting them, since it creates a lot of bad spots all over them that shouldn't be there (caused by the way the software lights them). They should be imported into 3D modeling software and gotten that way. If you would like more information about how to get them the proper way please let me know and I can get you started. Lady Ariel (talk) 19:52, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

I've been exporting them to Photoshop, which lets me tune the lighting so that it's now more consistent with the game. A few previous versions I've noticed had lighting issues, so I'm working on fixing that. TehPerson (talk) 22:11, 26 August 2018 (UTC)

Yeah the files should be exported to .dae and imported into blender, the camera should be then adjusted to fill as much space as possible (I have a template I use so it only takes a couple minutes), then the image should be rendered. The lighting in-game changes, so its best if no lighting is used (like all the other 3D models that have been uploaded). Nothing in Photoshop is required. Lady Ariel (talk) 22:38, 26 August 2018 (UTC)
I use Photoshop instead of Blender for the lighting changes. Default camera already in place, and then I export the sequence of .png, and string them together for an animation. TehPerson (talk) 00:05, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
First of all the images, like I said before, shouldn't be animated (there is a reason, the file size has a tendency to crash the site I have been told). Second, the images are too small they should be 1280x1280 (just like the ODs). Third, if you use the shadeless option and remove the lamp you won't have any lighting to deal with in blender. And lastly, there is way too much white space the camera should be positioned to take up most of the white space (so there is only white space on the left and right, next to nothing on the top and bottom). If you have Discord I can give you a lot more detailed instructions, honestly I would appreciate if we could work together here and get them done (I have a lot of different model projects I am working on for the site, from tons of games). Lady Ariel (talk) 00:44, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
These images are looking a lot better, just one little thing (never figured it out great myself). On some models (such as the SMUSUM female Veteran) there is lines on her belt. The problem is caused by the backside of the belt bleeding through in the front. The only solution I have figured out is to apply a blank transparent image to parts of the backside of the belt (only to the parts of the belt causing the issue). If you have any questions about how to do it specifically, please let me know. Lady Ariel (talk) 02:13, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
For now, the only issue I have is dealing with semi-transparent materials (like with Faba's glasses or Lusamine 2). Blender may be better with dealing with that, though I already have my own pipeline in place for exporting the image out of Photoshop. TehPerson (talk) 02:29, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Oh you mean the other Lusamine for Ultra Space? I already have that one done, and have for over a year never got to uploading it. What do you mean you are exporting the image out of Photoshop, you shouldn't be able to import models into Photoshop? Lady Ariel (talk) 02:37, 27 August 2018 (UTC)
Are you able to fix Faba? His glasses look way off and the big gray blob on the coat is again caused by the backside of the coat bleeding through the front (which I explained before how to fix). A lot of other images have that same issue, such as the female Veteran, Masked Royal, Lusamine, and Professor Kukui. Lady Ariel (talk) 17:25, 31 August 2018 (UTC)
Haven't been able to figure it out yet with the weird lines. As for Faba's glasses, the opacity may just be too low, so I can fix that later. I can put the PSDs that I've been working on in a Drive if you wanna help out with that. Thanks. TehPerson (talk) 00:02, 3 September 2018 (UTC)
I am currently away for a few more days, so I won't be able to help until at least next week. However, if you can put the PSD files that you are working with in a Drive or a Dropbox, that would be appreciated. When I get back, I can see what I can do about those problem files (it likely will be easier to just do them in blender, but I will have to take a closer look when I get back). Lady Ariel (talk) 14:21, 4 September 2018 (UTC)
Just want to let you know I am back, so I can check on those whenever you have them somewhere. Also like I mentioned before, the XYORAS ODs are better off being left for now. I have already done a huge portion of them, I just haven't gotten to uploading them and getting the others done. It should also be noted no ODs are identical from XY to ORAS, all of the ones reused in ORAS have some sort of change to them (some more major than others). Let's Go models

I just thought I would let you know for Let's Go we don't need the in-battle models. We only will need the VS models and overworld models. Each character only has one model now, not multiple like the 3DS games. The same model is used for the overworld, in-battle, and VS models. Having it three times with just a different pose is pointless. Lady Ariel (talk) 22:05, 10 December 2018 (UTC)

Thank you!

Words can't begin to describe how grateful I am for you for uploading the proper VS models for Archie and Zinnia, after they've been using the "temporary" ones for over three years! Now the only VS models I think we're missing from Generation VI are the ones for Brendan and May with Mega Bracelets. And maybe also the alternate poses for Team Flare Grunts, but I consider those of lesser importance. --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 12:24, 20 December 2018 (UTC)

Candy

Were you given permission to change all the Candy sprites? I asked numerous staff members and I was told to leave the amount of white space originally on the files. Lady Ariel (talk) 01:14, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

The "original" dimensions are 42x42px. When used as they are, they look disproportionately smaller than they should compared to the app. I didn't want to copy-paste the note every time. TehPerson (talk) 01:20, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

Not sure where you got the original dimensions of 42x42 from, the files ripped from the game came out at 64x64. Where did you get 42x42 from? Lady Ariel (talk) 01:24, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
https://github.com/apavlinovic/pokemon-go-imagery/tree/master/Sprite
Now I'm curious, where did you originally find the 64x64 sprites? TehPerson (talk) 01:39, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
I ripped the 64x64 images myself from the most recent version of the game. The files hosted there must be outdated and from old versions. Lady Ariel (talk) 01:44, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Ah I see, there was a 0.127 and an 0.129 versions of the APK. Well, feel free to revert those then, uploading Candy sprites is excess work anyways. TehPerson (talk) 01:51, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
On another related note...I see you are uploading the GO images for the Pokémon. Well we have those images already to be uploaded on this end, and some aren't going to be uploaded yet. Do you have Discord? If not could you make a Discord account and contact me on there? It would be a lot easier so we can communicate since we keep running into each other. Lady Ariel (talk) 02:08, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Had one years ago, forgot the login so I'll have to make a new account. For now, I'm just re-uploading the ones flagged "bad image" and the ones currently being used in articles. TehPerson (talk) 02:12, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
I have a lot of things I work on for the site behind the scenes (most is never uploaded by me, usually by others since I have so many things going on for the site). I have a Dropbox and a ton of links for what I am currently working on, but I won't post any of that publicly. Lady Ariel (talk) 02:21, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Sounds cool. I'll hit you up once I get to re-making a discord. In the meantime, let me know if there are any POGO images you want me to hold off on (eg unreleased Pokemon, etc) :) TehPerson (talk) 02:29, 15 January 2019 (UTC)
Sorry I was a bit preoccupied and just now saw your message on here. I think unreleased Pokémon should be skipped for now, but its a little late now. The only thing that will likely happen is that we have to update their images when they get released (sometimes minor adjustments are made to them). Also I replied on my talk page to you, in case you don't see it. Lady Ariel (talk) 03:20, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Fabricated images

As a rule, we want images that come from games. If you want to upload something that goes beyond that, then even if it would somehow be faithful, please do consult staff beforehand.

The images of larger than normal Candy that you uploaded will be deleted. Tiddlywinks (talk) 02:45, 9 July 2019 (UTC)
