Welcome

Bulbagarden Archives logo.png
Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, Ataro!

As a new user, you may wish to learn a few things that will be useful in your uploading:

The Manual of Style, or MoS, outlines the format and guidelines of all images on Bulbagarden Archives.

All of our administrators are here to help! Talk to them if you have any questions or problems with the Archives.

Tagging images with correct licenses and categories is a must. These guidelines will help you learn more about tagging images.

Miscellaneous
  • Please read the checklist when you upload media files. The checklist is there to make sure you are doing everything necessary when uploading said media files.
  • Be sure to tag and categorize all images. This helps organize the vast amount of images we have here.
  • Check if your image already exists by searching through categories, and Bulbapedia pages. This action will help prevent unnecessary duplicates from appearing.
  • When adding a licensing tag to anime or game screenshots, please avoid just choosing "Screenshot". This is not descriptive and places the images in the wrong category. Make sure to choose "Screenshot from a Pokémon game," or "Screenshot from the Pokémon anime." This will put them in the right categories, and help keep the Archives clean.
  • Does your image have a purpose? Will you be using it on a Bulbagarden Project? Avoid uploading images because you think they are "Cute" or "Awesome". That clutters the Archives.
  • Personal images are limited to two for each User. Personal images include personal logos, personal trainer sprites, drawings, trainer cards and mostly any image that would only be used in the User: namespace and have no encyclopedic value to Bulbagarden and its affiliates. Please tag these with the {{i-Personal}} template for easier organization. Under no circumstance should a photograph of one's self ever be uploaded onto Bulbagarden Archives.
  • In addition, please upload images with meaningful names. Names that are just numbers, for example, do not describe anything about the image, and can make it difficult for searchers. Names are just as important as licenses and categories, so make them descriptive. Please be sure that the filenames contain alphanumeric characters only.
  • Due to the many automated templates used on the wiki, lowercase extensions are imperative. That means jpg and png instead of JPG and PNG. It looks cleaner, it works better, and it does not cause any problems. Make sure to always use lowercase extensions.
  • If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 02:57, 11 March 2010 (UTC)

Don't forget to categorize. ht14 23:13
On the bottom of most files, there is a thing that is labeled as Category:X, X being any category relevant to the file. This helps in organizing files. ht14 23:27, 29 May 2010 (UTC)
In order to get someone to delete something, please put the delete tag onto the page somewhere. MaverickNate 02:31, 28 July 2010 (UTC)
Just another reminder... categorize them... Pokémon names, Trainers, etc. ht14 23:13, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Hey Ataro

After transparentizing, don't forget to remove the {{Transparency needed}} template in the edit summary. This also goes for the bad image template, etc. ht14 22:03, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Sorry was actually waiting for it to change before doing it just to see if I made a mistake or not...I was doing other stuff too so I kinda forgot Ataro 23:20, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
It's understandable I guess. ht14 01:03, 13 September 2010 (UTC)

Anime screenshots

Are you cropping them or what? They look weird sized like that. Please don't crop them. Jellotalk 17:57, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Yes Ma'am Ataro 17:58, 14 October 2010 (UTC)

Summary sections

Don't forget to use the {{m}} template in the anime move images; same function is used as in BP. ht14 04:22, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the {{delete}} template

Sorry for bothering you again, but... if there are active admins out there that noticed your uploads and whatnot, it's not needed to put out the delete template... it's implied. Just saying. ht14 23:57, 15 October 2010 (UTC)

oh, last time I was told to add them to the images...ok then.. Ataro 23:59, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh? By whom, may I ask? And what exactly do you mean by that? ht14 00:00, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh pfft, add them. I'm not a mind-reader so I can't go hunt for the unused .jpgs now can I? D: Jellotalk 00:02, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Eh, I guess it's up to you... but seriously, what do you mean by that? Add the delete template? ht14 00:03, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
getting confused here guys @_@ and it was Nate who told me to add the Delete tag in order to get someone to delete them. he wan't 100% specific so I assumed to add them to all of the images. Ataro 00:05, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
That's correct. I said that it's not really necessary if there's a clear-cut pattern, but Jello is saying that you should add it anyway. In any case, it's up to you. ht14 00:07, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
SO sorry to spam crowd up your user talk space, but I guess this could work. If I'm around more than Jello is, then don't put it if there's a pattern. Otherwise, if it's any other admin or other images in which I would not be able to guess are replacements to others, do put it. ht14 00:09, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
k'then Ataro 00:10, 16 October 2010 (UTC)
Redirects are ALWAYS delinked and deleted, so, add the delete tag to the redirect whenever you move them. MaverickNate 21:15, 18 October 2010 (UTC)
I tried that once but the tag wouldn't show up....Ataro 21:35, 18 October 2010 (UTC)

Chapter covers

Since you're the one uploading most of the covers, thought I'd ask you. Do you want the images to be flipped or retain their original position as it appears in the Japanese version? Also, since we're an English speaking wiki, we can't really have Japanese text in the covers. Jellotalk 18:54, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

I'd rather keep the positions...best to keep it in its original design..and I'll remove the text from now on Ataro 19:01, 22 October 2010 (UTC)

the delete tag

Should be placed AFTER the image has been replaced and not when the page is currently still using the image. Jellotalk 21:41, 25 October 2010 (UTC)

Ash and co. pic

I just wanted to say that the image you uploaded of Ash and his recent friends was way better than the previous one that someone else uploaded. Pattyman 01:01, 29 October 2010 (UTC)

Pokémon Adventures cover file names

The names for the files for this manga's covers are pretty unorganized, so I have few suggestions if they should be moved: Japanese: PKMNSPE01.png, PkmnSpe01.png English: For Viz Media: PkmnAdv01 VM.png, PKMNADV01 VM.png, VM PKMNADV01.png For Chuang Yi: PKMNADV01 CY.png, PkmnAdv01 CY.pg, CY PKMNADV01.png Other languages: PKMNSPE01 Korean.png, Chinese PKMNADVSPE.png, PkmnAdv01 Greek.png --Renzo493 07:27 November 6, 2010 (UTC)

Professor Hastings art

The artwork of Professor Hastings you uploaded was already uploaded as File:Professor_Hastings_GS.png. Yours is bigger, though. Could you reupload your art to the old title, and delete the one you uploaded as a new file? BTW, you misspelled Guardian in the file description. --AndyPKMN 00:43, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
