Welcome

Welcome to the Bulbagarden Archives, King Kerog!
Bulbagarden Archives bulb.png

By creating your account you are now able to upload images to help Bulbapedia and Bulbanews. Before you jump in, take a look at these helpful tips:

  • Uploaded images must meet several requirements. Please see the upload form and/or manual of style before you upload a new image.
  • All images need categories and license tags. Save time and fill them out as you upload. There are many different licenses - be sure to pick the best fit.
  • Use meaningful filenames. Make them descriptive so that searchers can find your images easily.
  • Personal images are no longer allowed. Any personal images found will be deleted on sight.
  • If you don't have any images to submit, you can still help out.
  • If you have any more questions, see the FAQ or ask a staff member.
Thank you, and have a good time uploading here!

Some quick notes

Hey there! Thanks for uploading the image for Base Set 2 Jynx. I never realized the card was lightened even more!

I had some quick notes about the image. Usually, we don't upload excessively large images (generally 1280px is the maximum size for either direction.). Do you have a specific need for the Jynx image to be as big as it is? Secondly, in order to make sure that expectations around finding images and template use are maintained, we also typically only use the .jpg extension and never .jpeg. If you upload any more images, do your best to keep this in mind. If you have any questions, let me know! Thanks. MaverickNate 01:15, 19 May 2023 (UTC)

Hey! Thanks for the quick response. That rule about files being large is actually written on the Main Page, but I see why it could be easy to miss. Now, that rule has been in place since before I was a contributor here, so forgive me if some of my reasoning is off, but I believe because Bulbapedia is subject to Fair Use, the limit is in place to protect the website from getting like, cease & desisted from The Pokémon Company, for example. I do know that the limit was also in place for cards because we didn't want to be providing counterfeiters with images detailed enough to be able to print fakes. Maybe it's time that the dimension rule is revisited, since it only seems to be listed on the main page without any reasoning, but that's not something that any individual can really decide on their own.
I'd be interested to know what cards you have in your collection. Historically, the website has only wanted to provide one image of each artwork and not really one of every single print (could you imagine Potion?). There are certainly some images that need an update, but I know that uploading all the images for Base Set 2 would probably need a check in with Project TCG to see if there are any concerns with broadening the scope of its mission.
Sorry that I'm not more help. BP (ironically) has a difficult history of writing things down, so many of the reasonings are hard to pin down. MaverickNate 10:25, 19 May 2023 (UTC)
