Deleting an image

Hey admins, you may want to change {{delete|this is a duplicate image of [[File:Example.jpg]]}} to {{delete|this is a duplicate image of [[:File:Example.jpg]]}} (note the colon before the filename). We don't need massive images appearing the in the deletion tag ;P たかはり 01:15, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

Thank you. Jellotalk 01:24, 7 January 2011 (UTC)

So...

So...why do we use AniPNG instead of GIFs for animated sprites? King Riolu 19:18, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

Something with PNGs are a smaller file size, and for detailed images colors aren't lost.—★Pika3323 19:22, 14 April 2011 (UTC)

But then why are some animated images like Spr HGSS Lance.png GIFs instead of PNGs? And sprites aren't detailed images anyway. King Riolu 16:49, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

We're currently working on slowly getting rid of gifs, and replacing them with anipngs. Note that the Emerald and Crystal sprites are all gifs while the DP sprites and on are all anipngs. The Trainer sprites that you speak of... there are many things that go on in the Archives; if you are able to, do upload the anipngs for those sprites. ht14 20:08, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

Userspace limits

Didn't the userspace limits get changed on Bulbapedia? Enervation 22:19, 17 November 2011 (UTC)

Link templates section

It says in one of the questions "What link templates are there?" when the there should be here. - Clubchloe1 03:20, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

I don't think that's a huge issue... one example of the usage of there is asking what there is to eat, not here... ht14 04:32, 15 January 2013 (UTC)

Mistake

Here. It says that Chrome doesn't support APNG at all, but in fact it can with this extension. オリナル TheOriginalOne 16:44, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Thank you for notifying us. I will update that. ht14 23:19, 21 August 2013 (UTC)

Compression with png images

The FAQ says pngs are preferred over gifs because they have a smaller file size. This is true, but the page is notably lacking any mention that non-animated png images can often be very poorly compressed by the program that generated them. I think there ought to be some guidelines, particularly with regard to anime screenshots, instructing uploaders on how to use various tools such as OptiPNG and AdvanceCOMP before uploading a file.

For reference, I've taken a sampling of some recently added anime images and recompressed them:

Filename Original Size Optimized Size
File:Ash_Froakie_Pound.png 1.65 MB 862.39 kb
File:Genesect_Army_escape.png 1.41 MB 844.11 kb
File:Team_Rocket_electric_cannons.png 1.56 MB 933.68 kb
File:Team_Rocket_Operation_Tempest.png 1.12 MB 873.44 kb
File:Wobbuffet_and_Team_Rocket_XY.png 1.38 MB 854.69 kb
File:XY009_error_3.png 1.07 MB 679.25 kb
File:XY012_error.png 1.29 MB 905.74 kb
File:XY012_error_2.png 808.13 kb 536.41 kb
File:XY015.png 1.28 MB 831.97 kb
File:XY015_error.png 1.38 MB 917.79 kb
File:XY015_error_2.png 1.51 MB 0.99 MB

I can write up a guide if this is something we want to add. --GARY-DOS (talk) 21:50, 8 February 2014 (UTC)
