Card Images

I'm sorry, but we do not use card images with site stamps here. Uploading a card image with a site stamp is liable to get Bulbagarden in trouble with whomever owns the site the image is stamped with. If you want to upload better-quality images, find ones that do not have site stamps on then and upload those, don't go uploading images with a site stamp on it. --Shiningpikablu252 17:25, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

Actually, you are not allowed to use any images from any other sites at all. You can only scan in cards that you have yourself. Maverick Nate 20:10, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

I am the webowner of collectorviper.com, and my stamp is viper.fox (my main name online), so these scans are from my own personal collection, if you were after clarification of this.

I am more than happy to share my scans of Japanese cards if there are none available in a higher quality elsewhere. On my own site, collectorviper.com, it is stated that the images are general fair use, so long as the watermark is kept in tact. Callyne4 23:18, 8 January 2009 (UTC)

But, the point is, we refuse to use any images with watermarks, and actually highly frown if the image is stolen from another site. You are welcome to upload yours without the watermark if possible, if you feel the need to. Maverick Nate 04:02, 9 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi

Please read the checklist when you upload media files, and be sure to tag and categorize all images. If you're confused about the requirements for uploading files, have a look at this guide. --ht14 19:55, 30 January 2015 (UTC)

Hey, this is your second reminder to please categorize images, thanks! ht14 04:56, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Ah, my apologies-- I missed categorising one of the cards in my upload run. I'll endeavour to not have it happen again. Callyne4 (talk) 07:50, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
To elaborate on this, you're often forgetting to include the species and set categories on your uploads. These categories are highly important, so please remember to add them along in your file summaries next time. Thank you, - Kogoro - Talk to me - 09:58, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Oh, I see (I feel super bad because I just uploaded a file before reading this so now I know what I've missed :x ). I'm a greenhorn when it comes to archives stuff, but I'll definitely ensure I remember actual categories et al. Somewhere down the line my brain went "yep you're good you've added the descriptor then the commons license wham lets go" I think. Callyne4 (talk) 12:48, 15 June 2015 (UTC)

CC-BY-2.0

This category is full of images you uploaded. Can you provide a source for the images? (or, if they're your own, put your own name in the template) --Abcboy (talk) 02:29, 26 June 2015 (UTC)

The source is from http://toys.qee.jp/menu.htm#POKEKIDSS -- Is there a general way to add sourcing when using the CC 2.0 from the dropdown, or is there otherwise a specific code I should be using so I can make sure things are attributed properly in the description box when uploading? Callyne4 (talk) 02:33, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
If they own the images, typically you must get permission to use them. See the sprites I'm currently working to upload; the host site agreed to allow Bulbapedia to use them, hence why we can use them. If we got the sheet from them and just started uploading...sure, there could be several other sources and they can't say it wasn't another source, but we have to be able to confirm who allowed us to use them, or they can't be here. Did you obtain permission to use the images from that site? CycloneGU (talk) 02:40, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Yes I did. They also loan these images out to other sites that catalogue the merchandise in question (other JP sites that is, I can count about four others using the same image pool originating from this site.) -- I've plans to upload my own images in time as is (I recently as of a day ago picked up a book on the page I'm working on right now which has stock images for the older figures etc.) so they're only a stop-gap until that arrives, which is why the current set lists on the Pokémon Kids page I've been adding haven't got images up yet. Callyne4 (talk) 02:46, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
All right, that was my only concern. I'll let Abcboy assist with your other questions. CycloneGU (talk) 02:47, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
I've fixed one. The first template is for the figure itself (which is copyrighted by Pokémon) and the second will attribute it. Also, have they explicitly released the images under the CC-2.0 license? If so, that's fine; if not, then the use of that template is inappropriate. --Abcboy (talk) 03:07, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for that -- I can go fix the others now. As for attributing licenses, I didn't get so far as asking specifically what license (convo is in Japanese, copyright licensing is different in Japan, they simply said that I was 'welcome to use them'.) Would there be another license more suited then do you think? Callyne4 (talk) 03:15, 26 June 2015 (UTC)
