Thank you, and have a good time uploading here! |
Regarding the uploading issue
Pre-existing files have an automated protection that prevents users from uploading a new version until they become autoconfirmed. Speaking about the requirements to become autoconfirmed, we are not going to discuss how to. If you want to change a file, yet you find yourself unable to, post an upload request on the file's talk page, and a member of staff will decide whether the file should be changed or not.
Speaking of staff, focus only in one person when in doubt instead of several at once. If the person in question isn't sure about how to proceed, then you may ask another person (and again, only one). Please keep in mind that staffers are usually busy, and it may take us more than a couple of hours to reply to your message, so please be patient. Masatoshitalk 05:53, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- And how do I make an upload request? Just make a section on the talk page saying I have made a new version and link to it on mediafire or something? Jabberwockxeno (talk) 21:05, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- You create a new section in the talk page saying that you request the file to be uploaded, replacing the current one. Can be in mediafire or in any image repository. Masatoshitalk 21:23, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, thank you! Jabberwockxeno (talk) 22:10, 22 September 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, one more thing: if my update requests are "denied", is it standard for it to be mentioned? IE: how will I know if nobody has seen it yet, or if somebody has seen and has decided not to update it? And is there an "appeal" process, so to speak? Jabberwockxeno (talk) 00:50, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- We will reply in the talk page whether it's uploaded or not in due time. For now, I ask you to be patient. Masatoshitalk 01:40, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- After a discussion, it has been decided that Mediafire shouldn't be used in the end. Use image repositories only. My apologies for misleading you. Also, I'm interested in knowing which guidebook you have with yourself, I'd like to know why the files are different, even if slightly. Masatoshitalk 02:12, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- No problem, i'll reupload them to imgur. The platinum official guide. You are talking about bulbasaur, or ivysaur? For the former, as I explained, the differences are without a doubt due to image artificacts. These occur due to a variety of reasons, most often from lossy compression formats, but can also occur when converting an image file from one format to another. In terms of ivysaur, i'm sure it has to do with the page being printed vs. the digital display on the site. Printing mediums use a color system called CYMK, which uses cyan, yellow magenta, and black for colors, whereas screens display colors using red, green, and blue lights. Thanks for being so patient with me, by the way. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 02:48, 23 September 2013 (UTC)
- Alright, they are all on imgur, now. I'll probably make some more color corrections when I have time if I see more that need it. I notice zubat needs it, for instance. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 16:36, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Uploaded them all bar the Bulbasaur and Venusaur ones (as the versions we have are from the company and are the most correct versions) --S2daam (talk) 17:13, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you! I noticed I forgot to select tentacool's tentacles while I was recoloring him, so I posted another imgur link on the talk page there. The issue is also present for tentacruel, but due to the number of tentacles, it's not feasible for me to correct. In any case, it's better than it was, in terms of accuracy to the art as seen on the official site Jabberwockxeno (talk) 17:57, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- Actually, I was able to figure out a way to do it. I'll put tentacruel's fixed one on the talk page soon, too. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 18:10, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
- One last question: How come the thumbnails/previews aren't changing on the file pages: The change is only visible in full size. Furtheremore, the change isn't visible period when viewed through bulbapedia. Jabberwockxeno (talk) 18:20, 24 September 2013 (UTC)
